The Afterlife

Virtually all civilizations, ancient and modern believe in some kind of afterlife. Humans have a natural aversion at the thought of their own demise.

As only your spirit rises when you are dead, all material things remain on earth. So, no tattoo guns allowed.

After death everybody came to the underworld, ruled by Hades. There you might enjoy eternal happiness in the Elysian fields, or eternal pain in Tartaros. The third possibility was a grey shadowlike non-life.

Mans' curiosity regarding the afterlife goes back to the beginning of mankind itself. Throughout history, there have been disagreements about every aspect of the afterlife. Especially about whether the afterlife exists at all and how does one get there. The concept is not limited to religious followers only, and there are plenty of tales, testimonies, and documents describing the afterlife from people who claim to have been lucky enough to 'catch a glimpse' into eternity and live to tell about it. You can go to most bookstores or scan the internet and find a plethora of people's accounts from all over the world. One of the most famous cases of a person who claimed to have gone to the afterlife was Jesus, of Nazareth. Everyone dies at some point. That is an undisputed fact, but whether we or those who have gone before us go to an afterlife is still very much up for debate.

This is a very uneasy topic. There are people who have had contact to the afterlife or a form of after life. There are people who wish that there could be an afterlife, but don't believe in it. There are people who believe in a religion, and people who only believe in religion so they have something to emotionally attach themselves to.

It is one of the places most religious people think exists, where souls are said to 'live after death'. Its existence has never been proven, as nobody has ever died, visited the after life and come back to tell the tale.

No, there isn't. That is one of those things that you can't prove. However, you also can't prove that there isn't one. So, really, this question cannot be answered unless you are biased, which I don't think I am (I have quite a few beliefs that are christian, but I do support the theory of evolution.)

Anubis was the god of death and underworld, his head was a jackals because at the time, jackals would eat the unhidden mummies and the jackal was a good animal to represent death

Osiris is the god of the Underworld.

The difference between the two of them is that Anubis "supervised" the dying process and escorted the dead to the Underworld. Actual control of that realm was relegated to Osiris.

If you believe that the soul is immortal, that means that it lasts forever, and is therefore infinite in terms of its length of existence.

The fact is, we don't know what happens when we leave this earth no matter what the cause of death. Different religions or cultures have faith in many different answers to this question. Some religions and and cultures believe that the person goes to hell, but in more modern times, this is not a common belief.

If one has a belief in an afterlife it can greatly affect how that individual may conduct themselves during this life. It requires one to have a perspective beyond mortality, that life does not end with mortal death. Those with no belief in an afterlife have a perspective limited to the actions and reward/consequences of a mortal existence.

With no eternal reward or penance, the actions one takes on earth become much more about immediate gratification. If there is no tangible aspect to rewards/consequences then they hold very little sway over individual attitudes.

Individuals believing in an afterlife must have a concept of attaining such, and what efforts or requirements are necessary for access to the afterlife. This often precipitates the belief in a higher being, power or God that is the keeper or planner of the afterlife. Such can greatly alter an individuals thought processes and behaviors.

If one is required to Keep Commandments to attain a Joyous afterlife, an individual with that belief would not be likely to break such commandments.

No he is not. (Even though I have never heart of him). According to the dictionary a witch is "A being (usually female) imagined to have special powers derived from the devil". Satan is powerful and can at times infuence the mind of some wicked person to carry on doing wicked things. No one, witch or not can force a person to do something against their will, whether it is good or bad. A weak willed person may be influenced into doing something, that however is not by witch craft.

Because it was believed that the Pharaohs and other important men would live on in the after life and fight the evil. This means that the Egyptian people would be protected from the evil.
