Kate Gosselin's bodyguard is Steven K. Neild from Prudential Associates Inc. in Rockville Maryland. Steve is a former police officer in his native New Zealand and then a former President Clinton Bodyguard.
He is the head of security for TLC and at first was assigned to protect Jon and Kate Gosselin and the kids in very late 2008 after fans started showing up at the Gosselin home and looking in the windows (some even peeking at them through the sliding glass door while the family was eating dinner) and knocking at the door at all hours of the day and night, Several instances of vandalism occurred, with fans pulling up plants as souvenirs and even taking a toy that was left in the side yard. Some fans got upset that Kate wouldn't talk with them and came back and threw eggs at the house.
Then an over zealous fan began following Kate all over the country and making bizarre phone calls to every place Kate had been and buying everything that Kate did, so Steve started accompanying her to all speaking engagements.
Since 2009 Steve's job is threefold, he protects Kate from scary fans and he acts as a buffer between Kate and the public. When someone approaches Kate to ask her a question that may expose her for the fraud she is, he simply shields her from it and says, "No more questions". And of course, he carries her purse.
The first time we saw Steve was on the plane going to Utah for the Park City Ski trip. Since then we've seen him more and more.

Here is what you need for one version of monkey munch, more commonly known as Chex Muddie Buddies:
9 cups of Chex cereal in a large bowl
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips.
1/2 cup of peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon of pure vanilla
1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar
Put chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter into a medium sized microwavable bowl.
Microwave mixture uncovered for one minute on "high." Stir the Chex mix and continue to heat in thirty second intervals until it mixes smoothly.
Add the vanilla and stir again. Pour the hot mixture over the cereal while stirring. Put the mixture into an extra large resealable freezer bag* or brown paper bag.
* Be sure to use the type of bag specified for freezers, they are thicker and more durable than regular bags and can survive the tossing and shaking needed in the second half of the recipe.
Add the powdered sugar seal or close the bag and shake until well covered with sugar. You might want to adjust the amount of sugar by reserving 12 the sugar as you shake and then adding in 1/2 cup amounts until you feel the buddies are covered, but no "dusty"
Spread the mixgture out on wax paper to cool and dry.
Store in an airtight container in a cool place or fridge.

In the Aug 2011 in the K+8 RV episode TLC allowed the viewers to see the real Kate, the mom who would make her child feel like a piece of crap on TV because she handed a piece of pizza in her bare hands to Steve and where her long time nanny quits. Now here it is June 2012 and the has been former reality star still "needs" a bodyguard? For this viewer it shows that way back when Jon was spot on about his wife and Steve but couldn't make any waves, so when Jon said that he was paying a mortgagefor a house but actually living in the apartment above the garage I believe him. Any former fan who has watched this show without wearing rose colored glasses was able to see the real Kate -- going from relatable to eventually the Hollywoodized store bought tan/boobs/hair version -- and that Kate is not going to get another show because of her infamous reputation. So nowadays Kate is sounding desperate, and yes even pathetic, every time she is begging for another show, but she is doing so because SHE loves the travel opportunities, the perks and the paychecks. But in my opinion it is the parent who should be providing for her kids by going out and getting a real job, not trying to find another show focusing on her kids so they can support themselves, as well as their lazy mother, even if it impacts their education. As it is the kids get paid 15% -- which they have to split 8 ways -- leaving 85% of the paycheck for Kate to spend on Kate (remember that Kate said on ELLEN that if the kids want cars when they are 16 they will have to go out and get jobs!).
