The number you have given is an incomplete question. There are many tests used to find thyroid dysfunction, and all their numbers and normals will be different.

When looking at your lab sheet, there will be a test name, a *normal* value, and your result. Use the two numbers to help you compare to see if they are within normal values. Use the name to create discussion about your results.

*HINT* Thyroid normal values on a lab slip will not necessarily be YOUR normal value. Physicians look at the number and your symptoms to determine treatment. Both must be considered equally.

I'm not a physician, but have these same symptoms. Unfortunately I have a hypothyroid which probably has caused several other hormones to get out of whack thus bad body and breath odors. Despite my regular hygiene practices I can only mask these odors for 1-2 hours then have to get back at it with constant oral hygiene and body checks for odors!!!!! My new endocrinologist ask me to try Aldactone (typically a hypertension medication, but often used for polycystic ovary disease, by the way I have neither). I tried it and it significantly reduced my body odor to the point that I often only need one shower a day. It was proposed that a combination of insulin use and kidney function are to blame. The Aldactone just so happens to affect both of these according to the research I've read. My endocrinologist told me she was trying to adjust my testosterone levels using this medication and was stumped when I started reporting that my body odors had changed so drastically. Read up on this old HTN medication and see what you think. It's not a cure all but it definitely leads me to believe that I have a metabolism problem over anything else. People are funny and often think you can just take a bath and these problems should resolve themselves? If it was that simple...no one would have body odor because in this country (US) most people bath daily and use deodorant products. I feel that the medical community has really dropped the ball on this. I'd rather they find a true cause of the problem then let people feel as though a good bath with some mouthwash will do the trick. People...if you have bad breath and body odor, something is WRONG!!!! Because we want everyone to smell nice, it's almost taboo to discuss body odor, therefore doctors don't acknowledge it as a possible medical condition. Even malnourished people with poor medical care and filthy water conditions in 3rd world countries smell better than we do!!!! That's a problem! Good luck to anyone who reads this. i have an i v p injection as when i was 4 yrs old i fell ill and came down with phneomonia and as a result i had to have the i v p injection.when i was on the table,having it,there was a complicaton and i had been told that the person who did it they had put the needle into my muscle and i had been told that if i come down with any sort of thing like phneomonia then it will kill me ! anonymous.
