How do you care fo a fowlers toad?

Caring for a Fowler's toad (or Eastern American toads) can be simple.

Habitat

a 10 or 12 gallon tank is big enough for at least 2 full grown toads. they need a water bowl (Fresh water everyday), And for the soil, NO BARK OR SAND, those are very bad for them! Dig some dirt and moss from outside, soft enough for them to bury themselves to sleep. Maybe add some twigs in there they may like that, my 4 do. Their tanks should be 60o- 70o, if the temperature gets too low the may start going into hibernation. Don't put them into hibernation without the right information (I may not know it all).

Food

I suggest feeding them every 2-3 days. They mostly eat crickets, but do not feed them anything too big and don't feed them too much, they may die! they will eat anything they can fit in there mouths. Do not feed them super worms, they can strike back!

PS: Spray them with clean, purified water (mist) at least 2 days a week, as well as half their tank (the side that their water bowl is on.

Do red bellied toads have poison?

I believe you mean fire bellied toads. FBT's have poison glands on the side of their heads. They look like small bulges. They can also have them on their upper back. If the toad is not green, the poison glands on their back are light green. You can see poison as a yellow color in their water if left unchanged. The toads squirt out poison if they feel that they are in danger.
