What do you do about your 1991 Toyota MR2 misfiring once and a while?
Check your:
Distributor cap and rotor (Mr2 turbo's are well known for their ability to eat distributor caps alive)
Spark plugs (look for signs of detonation, burning oil, running rich/lean)
If you have detonation, turn down the boost or check your timing.
If you are burning oil, check your piston rings.
If you are running rich/lean, take off any aftermarket blow-off valve, and replace it with the stock by-pass valve. Also, check your MAF.
MAF Sensor.
Why does your Toyota MR2 have bad gas mileage?
To be honest they should be quite reasonable. The problem is people don't know how to drive. And btw we are talking about the non turbo version. The thing is people get the mr2 and whoohoo a sports car let's trash it at high revs down the road and accerate fast and unnecessary hence wasting gas and damaging the car. If anyone and this is for any car drive smooth there's no rush. And you'll save alot in your mr2 if you drive smooth and accelerate smooth. That's what I believe, 2 liters are reasonable so it should with smooth driving be quite good
I got my 5-spd 1987 AW11 past 120mph going down a hill today.
Just for reference. I don't think I can go over 100 on flat though.

How do you replace the radiator located on a 1993 Toyota MR2?
the radiator is located in the front boot under the front black plastic cover, remove this and the bonnet lock. you have to empty the radiator from the valve at the bottom right hand corner. On UK Models remove 2 plastic undertrays, disconnet the fans, unbolt and take them out from below. Remove the two top radiator support straps (the rubber cushion should come away on the bracket, not stick to the Rad) Disconnet the two water pipes - they will probably come away from the bulkhead tubes easiest, disconnect temp sender. Lift the rad an inch and work free from bottom spigot mounts then move rad backwards and drop through to the ground.

Why does your cooling fan light come on but car will not overheat 1988 Toyota MR2?
The cooling fan light on your dash refers to the engine compartment cooling fan on the passenger's side of the vehicle, not the radiator cooling fan. In my experience with my '85 Mr2, that fan doesn't do a helluva lot, cuz mine only works if I unplug the temp sensor (sensor's dead and I don't wanna replace it) and I've never had a problem with overheating.
