i dont know alot about toyotas but ive done it in my dodge shadow.... if the engine blocks are the same and bolt up the same....then the only thing you might need to look into is the wiring harness and the computer for the turbo engine.. but before you do this i suggest getting the wiring book from the dealership for the car or just ...make it fit haha

the non turbo is 5sfe engine where as the turbo is a 3sgte engine. now you can do a swap [i suggest Google how to do so] but in order to not risk anything there are a few other things u need to swap such as the rear axles.

Generally it would be an unmetered air leak in the intake system. Or it could be a faulty crank/cam sensor

You may have a hydrolic clutch. One that takes fluid to make it work, check your clutch fluid.

It's in the engine compartment on the drivers side. It's a black cylinder.

From my 1988 MR2 Handbook (page 2) The tank capacity is listed as 41 litres, or 9.0 imperal gallons. As far as I know, the fuel tank design and capacity remained unchanged throughout the life of the AW11 MR2. From my handbook it says 10.8 gal. 41 litres is roughly equal to 9 imperial gallons or 10.8 US gallons.

The 2.2L early 90s enging was DOHC, not SOHC and no, it would not be easy to put that engine and transmission into a MkI MR2.

You may have a blown head gasket. The white smoke may actually be steam from coolant leaking into the combustion chambers. If your car is using a lot of water, this would back up the blown head gasket theory.

White smoke is coolant and black smoke is oil. I agree that this is likely a problem with your head gasket.

It's actually quite time consuming. You need to start by removing the battery, air box, and starter before you can actually start unbolting the tranny so that you can replace the clutch. A lift is necessary, well at least if you want it completed under a week. And an impact wrench is a life saver

autozone.com has online manuals that give step by step how to You tighten the tensioner on the bracket holding the air conditioner to loosen that belt then you turn the hold that adjusts the tension on the alternator shifting it forward to loosen that belt. You will have to take the AC belt off first, then the alternator belt.
