Why does the tropic of cancer cause natural hazards?
The Tropic of Cancer marks the northernmost point where the sun appears directly overhead. This can lead to intense heating and destabilization of the atmosphere, creating conditions conducive to natural hazards like hurricanes, typhoons, and monsoons. The combination of warm ocean waters and a shifting pressure system can amplify these hazards in regions near the Tropic of Cancer.
Are there other cancer survivor symbols besides the pink ribbon?
I've been researching this as well.. so far I have found a symbol for breast cancer that is a "survivor sword"- this is the link.. http://www.cafepress.com/bcsurvivors. I am trying to design a tattoo to commemorate cancer survivors as well as those I love who have passed from the disease-- I wanted three symbols, one to represent remembrance, one for survival, and one maybe to represent the fight.. when I began I wasn't sure. So far what I have is this: an awareness ribbon that will include every color, for every type of cancer-- some sort of cross for those who have passed, an infinity symbol for the continuity of life even after physical death, and the third.. well I'm still undecided. Underneath the ribbon symbol will be the words "In honore vitarum," which means "In honor of lives." I think that covers everyone/everything.
Well I hope this helped, and if not, I would love to hear any ideas!
