Your best option is to sit down with an Army recruiter and discuss your situation. Generally, you should be at least 18 years old to enlist, though you can enlist earlier depending on when you graduate high schol.

You will need a diploma (possibly a GED), a clean criminal record (but some convictions are waverable), no history of drug use (clean urine test to determine this), and good health.

How do I get accepted into the army?

Have a high school diploma or GED WITH college hours (at least 20). You may enlist at 17, but must have consent from a parent or legal guardian. If you enlist at 18+, this is no longer necessary.

You will be required to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test (ASVAB), and you must score a minimum of 32 on the General Technical out of a possible 130 for the Army. Your GT score (as well as other line scores) will determine was occupations will be open to you.

You will undergo urinalysis testing, an extensive physical, and a criminal background check. Having a record does not necessarily disqualify you from entry - that will be dependent on a number of different factors.

You must either be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien (i.e., 'green card' holder) with a declared intent of obtaining US citizenship. Additionally, as a foreign citizen, you may be audited according to your country of origin for acceptance into the Armed Forces (your home country must be on an approved list).

Then, after all of that is said and done, you must attend and complete Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training, from which point, you will proceed to your assigned duty station.

Right now 30 April 2010 there are four basic requirements for a person to be qualified for enlistment;

1. High School Senior/Graduate, College Students or GED with minimum of 15+ college credits

2. No Major Law Violations (ie. DUI, Possession, Sexual/Domestic assault or violence, etc...)

3. Ability to pass the ASVAB with a 31 or higher (maximum score of 99)

4. Have no major medical issues (ie... mental disorders, physical disorders)

Some others issues could be age, number of dependants or meet height/weight requirements there are others but it is best to contact a local recruiter and determine eligibility.

Who is the sergeant responsible to?

There are several ranks of sergeants. Buck sergeants (three chevrons) and staff sergeants (three chevrons with one rocker) led squads, usually of about twelve men. A platoon had four squads. There was a platoon sergeant (three chevrons, two rockers), the top enlisted man in a platoon. The platoon commander was supposed to be an officer, a second lieutenant or a first lieutenant. Platoon leaders got killed a lot. Platoon leader was the single most lethal job of the war. When the lieutenant went down the platoon sergeant took over, until a new lieutenant was assigned. So, squad leaders reported to either the platoon sergeant or the platoon commander, and the platoon sergeant reported to the platoon commander, unless he had become the platoon commander. If the platoon sergeant was leading the platoon he met with the captain or the first lieutenant commanding the company, with the other platoon commanders, when officers were called to company HQ to discuss plans or receive orders.

What do you have to do to receive a star in the army?

In the U.S. Army, you must attain the rank of Brigadier General. Some unwritten rules would be to have your Masters (or even a PhD), combat leadership experience, a host of command positions with definite improvements/results, attend every leadership and position-specific course offered, etc. It certainly helps to have graduated from West Point. You generally (no pun intended) must be married with a stable family life to wear a star (or even a bird for that matter). There are few single generals. In addition, it often takes 30 or more years of service to attain the rank. It can be done in less time, but it is certainly a rare exception to the rule. Most importantly of all (and I cannot stress this enough), you should be charismatic and well-liked; a people person. Without that, you are almost certain to retire as an 0-5.

Who saves nation more Police or Army?

In my opinion both army and police plays the vital in the protection of our country. As police use to protect the country on national level they use to fight with daily crimes and with many other things like encounter of criminals and terrorists when they get entered into the cities and army use to protect the country from terrorists on the border the terrorists who want to get entered into the country by crossing the border they use to spread their terror by killing innocent people without any reason then we have the army to stop the entry of terrorist to enter into our country and sometime army use to fight with the army of neighbouring countries when they attack on us without any reason or with any particular reason so we can't say that only police saves nation more as compare to army or army protects nation more as compare to police both have their responsibility towards nation and they both are very responsive in the protection of our nation
