What is the navy equivalent for platoon?

It depends on the warfare area - for Naval Aviation, it's a Flight (same as the AF). For the SEAL's, SeaBee's, and many shore commands, it's still a Platoon.

The term doesn't apply for Navy ships though, as a Platoon is based on the number of personnel in the group. If you were to base it on ship personnel, the likeliest equivalents would be a Task Element (single ship), Task Unit (2 ships) or a Squadron.

Can the navy fire you after having an acl surgery?

If you're active duty, it'll depend on your recovery, and whether or not you can return to your job. If you can't, usually they'll give you the option of changing rates, or moving to a shore command, unless it's bad enough you can't work. Remember that double amputees have returned to active duty - it isn't like it once was years ago.

Can you get out of Navy NEC 8701?

You have to elaborate a little more. If you want to cross rate to another rating, it must be in CREO level one (look it up). If you want to switch to Biomed Tech or Lab Tech, you can do that too. Switching to another rating in CREO level 2 or 3 will not be allowed because they REALLY need us 8701s (according to my command careercouncilor).

Its just like Civilian life, except you have the distinction of being in the 10% of the population that can serve in the US military. Alot of enlisted guys knock it, but when it comes down to it a steady pay check, place to stay, food to eat, medical benefits, and free world travel, who else offers that in a job? Life is good as a sailor.

The base salary for an E-8 (minimum 8 years) is $3,741.60 on the 2010 pay chart. However, there is no general salary - pretty much everyone has other allowances that affect overall pay (housing, dependents, bonuses, hazardous duty, total years of service, etc.). In that regard, it depends entirely on the individual as to how much they actually receive.

How do you take a navy arms international country boy 50 cal. gun apart to do maintance?

I am not familiar with a Navy Arms Country Boy rifle- but if by chance you have a Navy Arms Country HUNTER .50 caliber muzzleloader, they are pretty much a traditional muzzle loading rifle. Remove ramrod, draw back the hammer, tap the retaining wedge pins out of the stock, then lift barrel out of the stock. Right there is a good place to stop. You can check with Navy Arms customer service through their website to see if a manual is available for your rifle. Also check to see if this rifle uses a removable breechplug. Some black powder rifles have a non-removable breech plug.
