I'm not a military verteran, but I would guess the reasons for military veterans feeling unloved and unimportant are as vast as for non-veterans, making it impossible to generalize the reasons over the entire group. Add: Some veterans have been to war and fought for the way of life many people enjoy. Yet when they return they are treated with disrespect, bitterness and sometimes even open scorn. They are called vile names, physically abused and treated with contempt by the very people they sought to protect. This happens at a time when most of them have lived through the horrors of watching friends die and having to kill or be killed. They are emotionally vunerable and when people should be thanking them and helping them, the exact opposite happens. This leaves permanent emotional scars that never heal.

Common law marriage is determined by the state. If a state recognizes common law marriage, the Federal government will also recognize it, as must the other states of the union. But not all states allow common law marriage. They figure if marriage is what you wanted, you'd have sprung for a license.

One does not get paid simply for being a veteran. Those that have been discharged for medical reasons may be receiving a disability check. Other than those that have retired, they make whatever the job they obtain pays.

the VA does have a dental program, HOWEVER, there are VERY specific catagories in which they will treat you. I know for sure that vets who were (and can prove) they are former prisoners of war, those with a purple heart, retired, rated at 100% or granted unemployability are entitled to dental. If you don't fall in one of the predefined catagories you can apply for dental treatment if you are indigent/poor or it is an emergency, however, whether or not they do it is solely at the discretion of that va clinic and their dental department. For example, I applied for emergency dental care as a 40% service connection disabilities because my wisdom tooth was so infected the entire side of my face was swollen to the point where my eye was killing me. They deemed it a non-emergency and sent me back to the clinic where I was promptly given anti-biotics for what the dr determined to be a severe wisdom tooth infection. I had to borrow money from my family to go get the tooth pulled by a civilian dentist in an emergency appointment (cost me a fortune!) so good luck with that

I do not think so, VA disability is not taxable. I get a 1099-R each year showing my military retirement income but nothing to show my VA disability.
