How does a vulture get its food?

A vulture does not hunt its food, for it is a scavenger. It finds dead things, For instance animals that get hit by cars, like deer. They do not like them freshly killed, but laying out for a day or two. If it's been out that long, it is full of bacteria.

So the vulture doesn't get infected when standing on the carcus, when it "eliminates its waste" (poops) it lets the "stuff" glide down its legs, making something similar to a shell. Then it cannot get infected.

Then, it is able to eat the dead animal.

Is there any way to chase a group of American black vultures off your property?

There is a way. But it depends on how many vultures. If you have a dog, you can get it to run at the vultures. But if they are always n yor yard, there must be a nest, or a carcus, nearby. Try to find the carcus, if there is one, and remove it. If thre is a nest (and you dont want to kill the babies) you can barely do anything without killing them.

It also depends on how frequent they are on your lawn.

But, try not to run at them. It also may not be safe for your dog too. Black vultures are more aggressive then turkey vultures.

Try finding a big fake dog, and put it in the center of where the vultures are. Make sure it is strong, for if it falls over, it may seem like food to them. Change the position everyday.

(please ONLY do this if you have to, if they havent left after about two months) You may have to call in somebody, to catch them and release them somewhere else. It may be bad for if they have eggs. If so, after they have left, bring the eggs to a wildlife rescue center. There they would care for the eggs.

You can try these methods. They can work, so try them.

What animal eats a vultures?

Generally vultures have no predators, Vultures have a defence mechanism, where they regurgitate their food ( which has a most foul smell ) when faced with danger, sending predators off in a hurry whilst enabling the vulture to fly with less weight on board. Having said that, when the vulture has taken off, whilst it is gaining height some large cats ( such as lions ) will jump and try to grab the vulture.
