How did Edward III help cause the War of the Roses?

He simply had too many sons! The families of his sons grew to form the houses of Lancaster and the houses of York. Due to the fact that both families were descended from Edward III, all male descendents of each family had a good claim to throne; many wanted the throne for themselves, which led them to fight against each for it. These fights between houses are known as the Wars of the Roses, but more recently some historians are calling it 'The Cousin's War'.

Where is the house located that was in Steven's King miniseries Rose Red?

I don't believe the house shown in the movie is real. I think the house that is shown in the actual film is just a Hollywood set. But of course, I could be mistaken.

However, Stephen King got the idea for the house from the real-life Winchester Mansion. The mansion was built by the wife of the man who invented the Winchester rifle, William Wirt Winchester. He died, and his widow, Sarah Winchester, believed that all the ghosts of the people who were killed by the Winchester rifle were haunting her, and that they would not stop haunting her unless she built a great big mansion for them.

According to Sarah, the ghosts gave her instructions on how to build the mansion, which resulted in some very kooky building plans. For example, there are staircases that lead nowhere, doors that open into walls, a cupboard that is only half an inch deep and therefore useless, and all sorts of crazy stuff. I have included some links to sites about the Winchester Mansion.
