How can you tell if your water pump frozen?

There won't be any water coming out of the faucets.

You may also hear water running, if your pipes run in a crawl space beneath the house. Most of the pipes I have worked on involve an outside faucet that someone forgot to turn off, before the cold season. The water pressure may be reduced; a test... turn off all water faucets and go to your water meter, see if it is still moving this will indicate that you have a leak somewhere.

Can you drive car after water pump goes out?

Yes, but not for very long, as the loss of coolant is going to allow your engine to overheat in a matter of minutes. And it's going to be hard to tell, since your temp sensor measures the coolant temp, may not provide an accurate measurement without coolant.

If you do have to drive, keep it short and light on the gas, overheating will break down your oil and damage your engine, and you'll be spending a lot more money than if you had your car towed in the first place.

How do you replace bearing on water pump 0.5HP?

You first have to separate the motor from the pump chamber. Remove the impeller carefully, it usually unscrews opposite direction of rotation. (Be careful with the ceramic seal inside pump chamber, it's delicate. ) When the motor is separate, unscrew the end with contacts and carefully pull this aside.

-Whenever I do this job, I always replace BOTH bearings. For a bearing cost usually less than $15 it doesn't make sense to commit all this labour to change only the faulty bearing. (the other may go in a month or two then you repeat all the labour ) Pull both bearings and carefully insert both NEW bearings. Re-assemble everything in opposite order. Fit new gasket on pump chamber. Screw pump chamber together doing opposing screws after each other (imagine 6 screws in a circle, loosely do all 6 then tighten 1 then 3, then 5, then 2, then 4 etc. This way the gasket will be even as opposed to tight on one side (if it's a Jet-pump this is VERY important ! )

How can you test the water pump to make sure it is operating okay?

I'm going to assume this question is concerning a domestic water well pump.

First , if there are any whining, or screeching noises, or smell of hot wires -then it is definitely NOT okay ! - Switch it off and fix.

- Inspect for any leaks while running. Feel motor to ensure it's not too hot, check output pressure on gauge, finally use a 'clamp-on' ammeter on motor to ensure it's pulling recommended amps while under load.

Be careful with electricity AND moving parts !

Why do you weep?

we can weep because we have tear ducts in our eyes!

Can you drive it with a blown water pump?

What cause a car to overheated when you replace the water pump an thermostat?

It's possible that your fan may not be kicking on. To check if your fan is working on your car, turn your air conditioner on, your fan should come on at that time. If it does, you may need to look at your censors that control your fan. Also, make sure that you do not have any leaks in your hoses leading from your motor to your radiator. Hope this helps!
