When to replace water pump on car?
Hope this helps anyone, First sign you may notice is that your vehicle may start to run at higher temperatures, then you add water or coolant and notice its the same a few days later. Also you may notice a pool of coolant under the engine on the ground another sign to tell you that you have a leak from somewhere maybe your pump. Grab a good torch check around the front of your engine where most water pumps are found, and check for where the leak originates from if you can trace it back to the pump it could be the housing has corroded through or the impeller in side the pump has deteriorated, Therefor replace the pump.
How do you know if a water pump bad on a 305?
Squuze the upper hose when thermo is closed. You will feel water circulating when thermostat is open. If it is circulating you are ok. Not much can go wrong internally, they either leak or the bearings go out which make noise but you can see or hear that..
Does groundwater need to be filtered?
sometimes yes as it may have many impurities which are harmful for us.
Do you use any gasket sealant on the water pump?
I use somthing called indian cement which is a way to keep the seal in place and makes less mess.
There are two pumps the primary and the secondary pump. The primary is the chilled water pump which is what pumps cold water throughout the building and the secondary circulates the water.
Can a water pump and thermostat go bad at the same time?
No they don't go bad at same time but any smart technician will replace both at same time.
What year 350 sbc has reverse rotation water pump for surpitine belt?
All serpentine belt driven water pumps on SBC engines are reverse rotation.
Do you need to replace your water pump if you change radiator?
No You don't Need to change the water pump But you should change it and the thermostat if radiator was full of sludge. if not then no to both.
How much time to replace water pump on pt?
Water pump replacement on a 2.4L Pt Cruiser takes about 6-7 hours for an experienced mechanic
Water pump replacement on a 2.4L Pt Cruiser takes about 6-7 hours for an experienced mechanic
Can driving with a broken thermostat on your car eventually make your water pump go bad?
Probably not in the context you had in mind. If the thermostat is constantly open, however, it can cause the water pump to run excessively or even continuously, and that'll cause the pump to wear out faster.
Why do cars overheat could it be water pump if not leaking are making noise?
its usually got something to do with radiator, might need some new fluid
As the chilled water system is a close system and basically consist of two loops i.e one loop from pump discharge to load & second loop from load to pump suction. Now,the effect of pressure drop will be more prominent in the second loop ,after the flow exit the load.Hence we have to alleviate the pressure where the effect of pressure loss & small water requirement is more prominent and i.e the suction side of the pump.
Will the water pump make squealing sound when going bad?
my water pump just went out and i thought that the squealing was my belt but turned out to be my water pump and the fact it was leaking anti-freeze. so yes
How do you change water pump on a 1985 jaguar XJS V12?
What the Jag manual calls the "cross pipe" is the pipe that connects the two thermostat housings to the water pump inlet, and has the fill cap on top. It is variously called a crossover pipe, a bypass pipe, and several unprintable names. Note that the air balance pipe at the top rear of the engine connecting the two intake manifolds is also called a crossover pipe; try not to get confused. The repair manuals indicate that the crank pulley must be removed to remove the water pump, but the cross pipe can stay where it is. The water pump will come out and go back in without removing the crank pulley. But the pump will not go back on with the crossover pipe connected if the pulley is still on as you have to snake it in over the pulley and the crossover pipe would be a big impediment. So having said that and realizing that you are now going to replace the crossover pipe with the water pump already installed, there is only one way: Lubricate all three of the pipe connections (on the two thermostat housings and the water pump) liberally with 3M water hose sealer. Then lubricate the three matching pipe ends on the crossover pipe with the 3M stuff. Now slip the new, cut to the proper length, hoses onto the crossover pipe. Put two clamps onto each of the three hoses, not tight,
just enough so they don't slide off. The two clamps on the right side should be placed so the screw is on top when installed and slightly back. The clamp on the thermostat housing on the left side should be so that it is on the bottom and slightly back so there is enough room for a screwdriver angled down below the header tank. The two clamps on the water pump hose should be on the left side of the hose slightly back so the screwdriver is angled to the left side of the car. If you set the clamps up this way you will save a lot of grief later on. Now push the hoses up onto the crossover pipe as far as they will go. Next place the center (water pump), hose onto the water pump tilting it and the crossover into position. It will take a little pushing and prying with a screwdriver, but
it's not too bad and the hardest part is done. "Now, pull all the three hoses into approximately the correct position and lightly tighten the clamps. Now make sure the small pipe on the top of the crossover is clear of the big bolt on the block so that the hose to the overflow tank can be put on without being in a position to rub a hole in it. Tighten all six clamps and you are done."
How can you tell if the water pump is bad in a car?
The diaphragm breaks, and water leaks out the "weep" hole, assuming the belt is good, there is water in the system, and the thermostat isn't stuck closed. You usually get accompanying "bad bearing" noises, as the area around the pulley bearing overheats.
How is the water pump bearing lubricated?
They are usually factory sealed with a lubricant sealed inside the pump.
How do you replace a water pump in a BMW 3 series?
The first thing you need to do is empty the radiator by the drain cock located on the bottom of the radiator. It is on the driver side of U.S. vehicles. You should be able to contain the two gallons of fluid. Next take off the upper radiator hose both ends. the water pump is behind fan clutch. You will need to remove the plastic fan housing, the fan and fan clutch. You will need a large special wrench (1 1/4 inch or metric equivalent) made for the fan nut which is reverse threaded. After you have removed the fan clutch you can remove the thermostat housing. Look at the thermostat and replace being careful to orient it the new one the correct way. There should be an arrow indicating which way is up on the thermostat. Normally there is a pinhole in the thermostat that needs to be oriented up. The water pump is located behind where the fan clutch was taken off. remove the bolts pull the old pump out making sure there are no pieces of it left in the engine block. Install the pump, fan clutch, fan, fan housing and replace all hoses using new hose clamps( you will have to cut the originals off). replace two gallons of BMW approved antifreeze and water wetter and bleed the system via the bleed screw. Note: when you take the old water pump and thermostat housing out you should expect a gush of antifreeze to follow. The fan spins on to the left by hand and there is no need to use a wrench. You should also upgrade to an aluminum thermostat housing and new housing gaskets as this is a weak point in the system. A new reservoir and level indicator is also a good idea along with radiator if so inclined.
Importance of a submersible pump?
Submersible pumps can be applied to many distinct applications, from pumping large solids or grinding solids to smaller sizes, to transferring waste water at large flow rates or high pressures, to simply pumping up water off the floor or the bottom of a tank; depending upon submersible pump design. Some of the more common submersible pumps designed for specific applications include water submersible pumps, sewage submersible pumps, 12 volt submersible pumps, sand submersible pumps, irrigation submersible pumps, and solar submersible pumps. Solar submersible pumps, while not specific to an application, are best used for slow and steady water transference into a holding tank, but may also be used for direct pressurization applications.... that's my answer... shreya

That is NORMAL, The holes go all the way through the water jackets. Just be sure to seal the bolts with alittle sealer. You have no problems.
Most likely considering the new thermostat is OK, you have a badly kinked, or twisted hose, or a clogged heater core. To check flow is good; After wam-up, squeeze top, bottom or both (one than the next) large hose, and feel for flow, it also should feel warm. Upon release, you should hear a squishing sound. Also, you can have a loose belt that drives the water pump. Tom
