What happens during a wildfire?
During a wildfire it becomes bigger as it goes over any fuels from living or dead plants and animals! Then if it gets bigger the fire department spreads chemicals over the fire to reduce it. If that does not help, the fire fighters will have to wait for it to die down to go in and put it out!
How much does the damage cost in a wildfire?
To be honest I have no idea how much it costs! But I live in Washington, near where twilight, new moon, eclipse & breaking dawn are set!
I'm TEAM JACOB! Jacob is SO cute and he chest-ahhh he chest!
Luv u America!
How does wildfires help the environment?
With the whole circle of life, wildfires are a normal part of forest life. Yes, some may die, but there is also growth afterward. For instance, most animals retreat from wildfires while small animals like snakes and toads bury themselves underground until after the danger has passed. If you look at an area after a wildfire, about 4 to 6 months after you can already see growth happening, the larger trees should still stand if the fire was not to severe, they will have charred marks up to the height of the flames, all under brush dies, but it does grow back. A lot of times counties with large forest areas to look after do what is called control burning where they go in and set fires to burn through the older underbrush, the reason is to make chances of an uncontrollable wildfire more controllable.
How can wildfires cause damage?
A fire starts by friction or by an electric spark igniting the gasses or general fuel used.
Depending on what it is burning it can get upward of 3000 degrees F.
Where and when were the wildfires in California?
Wildfires mostly start at places such as large and dense forests. They occur when dried-up leaves and branches on the forest ground catch fire from either a cigarette butt or a lightning strike. These will start to spread, and eventually, the upright trees would also be reduced to ashes.
What do you to prevent wildfires?
i don't know just trying 2 figure out mi brothers password 2 mi computer and its making me mad :(
What is the most common places for wild fires?
Brush fires typically occur in agricultural fields, meadows, deserts, or rural vacant areas during a prolonged period of no rain. The Western United States and Australia have been know to have significant brushfires.
The term bushfire, rather than brushfire, is unique to Australia. Bushfires in Australia can occur anywhere, but are most common in the southern states which have very hot, dry summer seasons.
What factors causes wildfires to occur?
I work for CalFire fighting fires all summer. There are a few different things that cause fires. I'll list my opinions of most common causes to least common.
California is trying to pass a law where if you start a fire and someone perishes while fighting it you will be eligible for the death penalty as well as liable for all costs incurred putting out the fire.
Wild fire can be caused by a fire that campers started and didn't put out, by someone throwing a lit cigarette into dry grass and shrubs, by lightening striking dry timber, or by an arsonist who intentionally lights small fires in several places.
Occasionally a person who is mentally ill, (a pyromaniac) will think they can make themselves appear to be a hero by starting a fire and then act like they just happened upon the scene and try putting it out. Unfortunately the fire usually blows out of control before help arrives and from there it will burn for miles, until a shift in the weather helps firefighters or until it runs out of fuel.
This happens almost every year in Southern California. Sometimes Law Enforcement gets lucky, and the arsonist is seen by witnesses in the area, shortly before the fire starts. More often the arsonist gets away. Some of these people have applied to be Firemen and did not pass the tests given to applicants.
What is the usual cause of bush fires?
there is all sorts of ways that they start like power lines falling lighting striking trees even, sound scary but its true people can start fires and then the winds blow it causing it to spread do you know that fire travels faster down hill then it does up! from gal of new zealand
Why does wildfire happen often in forest?
it can be to hot and the sun can be focusing on one thing, if there is no breeze or water it can get really hot and catch on fire, a wildfire can also start if humans mess with lighters, cigarettes and many more.
How did the Australia fires start?
According to Diana Bernstein, climate scientist and Assistant Research Professor in the Division of Marine Science at the University of Southern Mississippi: “Apart from human activities, Australia’s hot and dry summers are to blame for the start and the spread of the wildfires."
Although the region knows to expect a fire season, these most recent fires have been worse than most. This is because Australia is currently experiencing its worst drought in decades as well as a heatwave that broke the record for the highest nationwide average temperature in December. These elements combined have caused the fires to spread more rapidly than usual. Many experts also reference climate change as a contributing factor, as the increasingly extreme weather conditions are taking their toll on an already at-risk area.
There is also the human element—there have already been 24 people charged with deliberately starting bushfires this season.
The cost of preparation for forest fires is one cost, in addition to the actual cost of fighting fires.
The economic harm to forests and other assets depends upon the local conditions, and whether the forests were commercially viable.
The cost in human suffering and property damage depends upon where the fire occurred.
The costs in suffering of wild animals is immeasurable.
How long does it take a burning wildfire to get out of control?
It depends on where the wild fire is, if it is surrounded by water or in the middle of the woods, or near homes. A whole forest can go up in flames within minutes.
Fire can "go away" if it runs out of fuel, is extinguished by water or another fire retardant, or if the conditions necessary for it to exist, such as heat, oxygen, and fuel, are removed. The extinguishing method depends on the type of fire and its surroundings.
What impact do wild fires have on humans?
Wildfires can burn down houses and injure or even kill people if they spread far and fast enough.
A wildfire moves almost as fast as the wind itself - which is difficult to outrun.
The loss of trees results in erosion, which may take out a section of road the next time it rains.
The wildlife becomes displaced (has to move their range), crowding in on other animals' territory and stressing the resources in that area, possibly inhabited by humans.
The lost tree varieties may not be able to reclaim the area without human assistance, and may take over 100 years to do so.
They make me sad.
What are the main features of disaster?
Why are fires more frequent and hotter now than they were several decades ago?
Decades of fighting fires has prevented the normal thinning of forests by fire. Now many forests are unnaturally thick, providing more fuel to fires than normal.
Does cold weather effect wireless signals?
In general, normal cold weather does not affect wireless signals. However, extremely cold weather could cause issues for external antennae that are exposed to conditions.
What temperature does a Wildfire start at?
There is no set temperature that a wildfire starts at. The most recent fire in Santa Barbara, ca started when the weather was overcast and the temperature was below 70 degrees.
What is the difference between a regular and volunteer fire department?
There are three types of fire response organizations that can be found:
* Volunteer * Paid * Combination The main difference is the way the stations are staffed. Paid departments maintain a crew of paid firefighters at all times, ensuring a proper crew and a quick response. Volunteer companies generally have more firefighters, however often times they will respond from their homes or jobs. Combination departments are those that have paid firefighters during certain hours, or they have a full paid stuff supplemented by volunteers.
In terms of training, a volunteer firefighter obtains the very same certifications as a paid firefighter. Paid firefighters respond from the station usually only during their shift, while volunteers, continuing the traditions established by Benjamin Franklin centuries ago, will respond any hour day or night, with no expectation of financial reward.
