How do you remove unmovable files?

Usually they are the page file, so turning off virtual memory removes them.
My ASUS EE was sluggish after a few months so I went to defrag the C: Drive.
even though it had 20% space.
It was cluttered with hundreds of unmovable files shown in green. The white
space was scattered in thin sections.A defrag
made no difference.

A search found some information but nothing complete. It did say it was
probably pagefiles scattered by the system. I noticed. 1. My page file was
on the system drive (C). 2. It was ten times the system recommended value.
My answer was>
>Control Panel
>System Properties
>Advanced Tab
>Performance Settings
>Virtual Memory
>Click on Drive C and set it to 'No Page File' (Some of the fixes say that
>it should not be on the system drive which makes sense as that is where the
>intense activity takes place.
>Click on Drive D and set it to system managed size.
>Click on SET button
(It will tell you the computer needs to be restarted and I think it then did
so by default.)
When it had restarted I did a defrag on C: and all is lovely and also my
free space on C: had doubled from 20% to over 40%

Edit: I forgot to say I am using XP.

How registry is helpful in managing security?

If you're involved in data security, you're familiar with cryptography in some fashion and you know that ciphers - algorithms for performing encryption and decryption - are what do the work. You probably also know that there are a few quick-and-dirty algorithms for encrypting data. One such algorithm is known as the Caesar Cipher, or ROT-13, a simple algorithm that encrypts data by shifting each character 13 places in the alphabet while leaving non-alpha characters untouched. It's so simple that you can decrypt it manually, but it's enough to fool the casual observer. Anyone coming across something like cnffj beqsb egurf rperg svyrf vfcnf fjbeq, is naturally going to assume it's encrypted; in fact, it's ROT-13 for password for the secret files is password. I broke it up into five-character groups to make it more convincing.

For whatever reason, Microsoft uses ROT-13 to encrypt data in some registry keys. One such key is: HKCU\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\UserAssist. Here's an example: "HRZR_EHACNGU:P:\\AFYBBXHC.RKR." Decrypted, that's "UEME_RUNPATH:C:\\NSLOOKUP.EXE." (We'll look at the UserAssist key in Part 3.) A better way to hide data is to encode text-based information in binary format and store it in binary form as a string in registry values of type REG_SZ. Given that binary data is common in the registry, the technique would make it extremely difficult to retrieve the hidden information.

In addition to using ROT-13 and binary encoding to obfuscate data, a suspect could take advantage of a flaw in the registry editor to also make the data invisible to anyone but a forensics examiner who knows about the flaw.

How do you undo the command Alt F5 F4 on Windows XP?

This sounds crazy but just hit it again. I was working a large 1080p LCD at a trade show and for 2 days all was OK with the second screen. My clients laptop apparently got a little overloaded and the video card was glitchy causing the LCD to go blank. I could go from the laptop to the LCD at will with just hitting ALT F5. Good Luck.

How do I program a CD drive for audio play with an XP OS system?

The answer is simply do nothing. If you are running Windows XP, your sound works, and your CD Drive works, then you don't need to do anything to play an audio CD except put the CD into the drive. You may want to ensure you have a media player on your computer. Most versions of Windows XP come with Windows Media Player. If you do not have this player and want it, you can download it from Microsof's website. If you want a different media player, then just search for one - there are thousands of them out there. -CCMFreak2
