How can someone get into a laptop with Windows 2000 without the username or the password?

To enter in Windows 2000 terminal without a username and a password you need:

1. exclusive physical access it. 2. Windows 2000 Installation Disk.

Follow these steps:

1. Boot the system using the Win2000 Bootable Disk. 2. Goto the Recovery Console. 3. Presto.

Since Win2000 does not ask for an Administrators Password in the RC; now you should be able to have DOS based access to your files.

P.S. This I have tried on a Desktop System; you may try it on your laptop ;-)

How to install magicjack?

simply plug the magic jack into your high speed internet modem or router, or the USB port of your computer connected to high speed internet, depending on which model you have, and then plug the standard phone line from you telephone into the magic jack.

However, I have read somewhere that the magic jack can be jerry-rigged so that it works through existing phone lines and wall jacks, but I have not been able to find that method. Does anyone else know how to do this?

What does Windows XP stand for?

The XP in Microsoft products released around 2001-2005 was intended to be an abbreviated form of "experience". It was supposed to emphasise the fact that the products had been designed to give the user a better, quicker and more intuitive experience.

In marking documentation the text "eXPerience" was sometimes used, to emphasise the relationship between the product name and the intended meaning.

Can you edit your voice using windows movie maker if so then how?

Wonderful Wanda says:

Unfortunately, WMM (windows movie maker) is a very basic video editing software program with limited features. Even though you can reduce audio volume, mute or fade it in/out, that's about all you can do with the audio.

You would need to use an actual audio editing program to edit voices or sounds from videos as WMM is not capable of doing that. Sorry... :(

all i know that u can use AVS Video Editor 4

How do you completely wipe a hard drive with command prompt or MS DOS?

Well, there are several ways:

Getting Rid of the Data Physically and Destructively

One, if you don't need the hard drive after the "wipe," is to hammer a nail or two through the unplugged drive, rendering it unreadable to all but the most dedicated data recovery team. If you have an extremely powerful magnet, you could run that over the drive a couple times, too.

Starting Over With a Hard Drive

If you are simply trying to start over with your hard drive, you can use Windows' built-in formatter to erase and reformat the drive. In "My Computer," right-click the drive, select format, use all of the default settings (save for the label of the drive), and hit "Format." This will not work if the hard drive you are trying to wipe is your only or main hard drive, though, and is not completely secure for those of you who are trying to purge data permanently and securely.

If it is your main hard drive, then you can simply reinstall Windows or any other operating system on your computer. This is done by popping in the recovery CD's or installation CD's that most likely came with your computer. Doing this will wipe all data and start you off anew, though the nature of the reinstallation means that this method is about as secure as the previous method (read: not very secure).

Wiping Sensitive Data

One last option, for those of you who want to wipe your drive securely and do not want to reinstall Windows, is to use a third-party program to erase your hard drive for you. The technique that these programs use is to write a large file to your hard drive over and over again to get rid of any residual stored data. These programs will probably cost money, and should really only be used by those who are either selling their current hard drive, and want sensitive data off, or those who really need to remove all traces of their files. To find a program capable of this, Google "Hard Drive Eraser" or "Secure Hard Drive Delete."

One could possibly do the same thing for free by deleting all of the sensitive files by reformatting, reinstalling the OS, or just deleting them in Explorer, and then writing large files to the hard drive until it fills up. This method would rewrite all of the hard drive, and render all of the data almost completely unreadable.

I hope this was helpful. Good Luck!

Which type of files removed by disk cleanup took up the most space do you think this will usually be the case?

In my opinion, it depends on what you use most on your computer. Most users browse the internet, so it would be the Temporary Internet Files group. Another is Recycle Bin because it has a bigger file/size capacity.

How do you stop pop-ups when opening Windows Explorer?

EXPERT - You can also keep all applications from running automatically on your system by removing ALL privilages from the RUN registry (below). This in effect nukes all add-on applications from running automatically. It doesnt remove them from your system, it just removes their ability to run without your knowledge. This is the registry key below. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run You can download the Yahoo! toolbar that contains a POP - UP BLOCKER. This can be turned on/off according to your needs.

How do you make bootable floppy disc of window NT?

From which platform? From a Windows platform, insert the floppy into your disk drive. You can do this any number of ways but I'll give you the two easiest for me: 1. Right click on start, hit explore, drag your data to the disk drive. It will copy it, not move it. Remove disk. 2. In the program that opens the data you want to transfer (so perhaps Word for a paper you wrote), have the data open in the window, click on File, Save As, and Save it to your floppy drive (usually drive A). Close program. Remove disk.

What card must a computer have to connect to a network?

Depends on what type of local area network - the term is somewhat generic, as it can refer to anything from 802.11n wireless to Token Ring networks.

Generally, you'll need something called an NIC, or a network interface card. For ethernet (most wired networks), you need an ethernet card, or something that appears to have what looks like an oversized telephone jack on one side. Most computers these days include this, so check the back of your computer to make sure you don't already have one. If you don't, buy a USB ethernet adapter - they're not very expensive, and can be plugged into most computers with USB ports (same kind of port into which you might plug in a flash drive, looks like a rather flat rectangle). It should suffice as long as you're not doing anything exotic (intercepting network traffic, etc.) As for the vendor, Linksys if you can afford it, else it doesn't matter.

For wireless networks, you need a wireless card. Appearances vary, so it probably won't help you too much if I try to describe one. For most modern networks, you can use either an 802.11n (otherwise known as Wireless-N) card or an 802.11g (otherwise known as Wireless-G) card. There are a few more exotic networks type (802.11a, for example), but they're not seen often any more. Get the USB versions of those cards as well - they're much easier to install, and they'll suffice for most purposes. As for vendor, Linksys or Netgear if it's affordable, otherwise don't worry about it if you're using Windows (stick with Linksys, Netgear or SMC if using Linux - other vendors could give you headaches during configuration).

How do you reinstall windows XP without the original XP installation CD?

Test the CD by inserting it into the drive and rebooting your PC. As long as the CD is earlier in the PC's boot order, the CD will take over the boot process and go into it's restoration routine. Depending on the manufacturer, this may be a complete rewrite of the hard drive, or a choice to only replace the Windows files only. This is important as a complete rewrite will overwrite your personal files and added applications too. If no choice for "Windows only" exists, you need to exit this restore process and find a way to get your personal (My Documents, email, Quicken data etc...) files off this PC, and then run the CD boot restore again. After it is restored, you can copy your data back again. If you do not need your personal files or have a copy already, you can proceed with the overwrite. Remember to do updates for Windows and apply all Service Packs for WIndows and other MS applications.
