The front of the 10000 Shilling note has a prominent picture of an elephant with lots of smaller elephants images as the background. The Tanzania coat of arms is at the left-top above the signatures of the bank governor and the director of the federal reserve. The metallised security stripe has multiple copies of the seal of the Bank of Tanzania - a stylised wreath and flaming torch.

The back has a repeating rose motif and a large picture of the central bank building in Dar es Salaam.

To figure out the approximate year of printing, you need to find who the Chief Cashier was whose signature appears on the note, and the serial number.

A combination of these things should get you an approximate year.

A Bank of England One Pound note (Series C - green)(Chief Cashier J.S. Fforde - serial R46L), uncirculated and in absolute mint condition could fetch anything up to £10 GBP. If it has been circulated but still in good condition, it might fetch anything up to £5 GBP.

A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation.

As a collectors item it may be worth a few cents.

It is worth nothing but its metal value since it is not a real coin.

Simply put, a rectangle is the easiest shape to cut versus some other layout such as circles or pentagons. Bills are printed on large sheets of paper in a grid layout, which allows them to be cut apart mechanically with no waste paper.

As far as being rectangular versus square, a rectangular layout means it's easier to orient bills in stacks because they can only be oriented in one of two directions as opposed to four, which simplifies sorting and counting.

The northern Irish five pound note issued by the Northern Bank in 1999 with the serial number prefix of MM is worth $25 in mint uncirculated condition.

Mexican notes issued before 1992 are worth 1/1000th of their face value in current Peso - so a 10,000 Peso note from 1983 is worth about $0.80.

Very old notes, especially in mint uncirculated condition are worth more to banknote collectors.

It depends on how old, but the 1981/82 500 Peso note is mostly green with the name top-right of 'EL BANCO DE MEXICO' with a portrait of former president F.I. Madero on the front and an Aztec stone detail on the reverse.

Collectors notes, like those of all other countries, can be bought from any good banknote dealer.

There are a few variations of the 1930 Five Dollars note issued in Shanghai. In mint uncirculated condition, they fetch between $6-$30 depending on the signatures.

A Very Good condition note is worth $1-$3.
