The endosperm contains primarily carbohydrate and protein. The bran, or outer shell of the grain, contains fiber, B vitamins and some trace minerals.

Dietary fiber is a relatively easy nutrient to find on most Nutrition Facts labels. Look under the major heading “Carbohydratesâ€. Fiber is a non-digestible carbohydrate found in plant foods, primarily fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains. It is a beneficial nutrient for digestive health, heart disease risk, diabetes and weight management, and could possibly help lower the risk of some types of cancer.
American adults need at least 25 to 30 grams of fiber each day. Some research indicates that we only get about half this much because of our high consumption of refined carbohydrate sources and lowered consumption of fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body, not getting enough of the mineral, particularly early in life while bones and teeth are forming and growing, can have a profound impact on health. Natural food sources that contain vitamin C include green peppers, citrus fruits and juices, strawberries, broccoli, tomatoes, leafy greens, sweet and white potatoes, and melons. The FNB recommends 75 milligrams per day for adult women and 90 milligrams per day for adult men.
Protein is another essential nutrient for the growth and repair of body tissue. Protein deficiency in the United States is very rare, although some may state otherwise. To meet most people’s daily need for protein, a person needs only to consume two daily servings (six ounces) of a protein-rich food source such as lean beef, chicken, fish, dairy, eggs, nuts and seeds, or legumes.
A person’s need for protein is based on many factors, but in general, protein should comprise 10-35% of the daily calories consumed. Another way to calculate your protein needs is to take your weight in pounds (if you are overweight, make the calculation based on your ideal weight for your height) and divide by 2.2 to find your weight in kilograms. Then multiply this number by 0.8 or 1.0. This is the number of grams of protein to consume over the course of the day.

Soldiers in the first world war were not allowed to write about certain things like their position, the conditions, suspected enemy movements or plans for attacks. All the letters sent home would be proof-read by officers (sometimes by invalids in the infirmary) and censored to prevent anything uncouth or confidential being sent home to families.
This was because the Officers didn't want to worry the people at home. If the truth about some of the horrific conditions were found out, families would campaign to stop the war. This could lead to riots and all sorts of unwanted problems. It could also reduce the number of men that signed up for the army. At the time, the image of the army was of well-fed happy men doing their bit for queen and country and the officers did not want to pop this 'happy bubble' that was virtually all lies.
It was also because if the letters were intercepted an contained information on the position or plans of soldiers (on wither side) the consequences could be disastrous.
So soldiers had to be careful about what they wrote in their letters because, if they wrote about the bad things their families would receive a very censored letter and that would probably worry them more than being told the truth about the conditions.
In order to 'play it safe', as it were, most soldiers wrote about the weather and used a kind of code so as not to worry their families. For example:

The United Kingdom and the United States were the leaders in electronics. The US center for basic radar development was the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Radiation Laboratory. The British developed the magnetron which is now used in microwave ovens. Electronic and optical countermeasures such as jamming and radar absorbing material were developed. While the war stimulated many technologies, such as radio and radar development, it slowed down related yet non-critical fields such as television and radio. Technological escalation during World War II was more profound than any other period in human history. More new inventions, certainly as measured by such means as patent applications for dual-use technology and weapon contracts issued to private contractors, were deployed to the task of killing humans more effectively, and to a much lesser degree, avoiding being killed. Unlike technological escalation during World War I, it was generally believed that speed and firepower, not defenses or entrenchments, would bring the war to a quicker end. For example, the cavity magnetron was hugely important to the allies but the Germans were so committed to the Lichtenstein radar that they seem never to have deployed their own cavity magnetrons. # In war, it was often remarkably difficult to know whether a new weapon was good, or bad; the first US magnetic torpedoes usually failed to explode even if they hit the enemy ship. # Even a sophisticated technology might be answered by a crude and simple device e.g.The Germans had an acoustic homing torpedo, which was easily countered by an acoustic mechanism towed behind allied warships. # Innovations might be held back from use because of the fear of what the enemy might do. The Germans had a technological lead on poison gas, which they did not exploit. Had they known the war might have ended differently. As it was, they were deterred by the fear of allied reprisals. Both sides held back from using chaff for some time before the British used it. # A very great amount of the innovation on the allied side was necessitated by the needs of amphibious warfare, a need which hardly existed for the Germans. # A lot on innovation was of the stop-gap variety. This especially true in armoured warfare as there was an escalation between gun and armour resulting in large production facilities for producing obsolete tanks. These were used by placing large guns on the chassis of obsolete tanks to produce a weapon variously known as self-propelled artillery, an assault gun or a tank destroyer. Stop-gap solutions could be rather desperate such as the single use fighter aircraft. # There was remarkably little direct copying of weapons by one side from the other. Even where such copying existed, as with the bazooka, the calibre was increased because each side had a differing military requirement.
