Why is your whippet peeing in his bed?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Dogs will pee on beds to show dominance over that and you must show them that the bed is yours, not his/hers. Also they can simply not be able to hold it in while they are sleeping the same way sometimes with little kids.

This depends. If you want a dog that is somewhat active but otherwise lazy, this dog is good for you. Whippets are also very energenic. If not, well, look for another dog. I have a whippet myself. Hope I helped. :)

What dog between a Staffordshire bull terrier or a Whippet makes a better family pet?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

bull terrier if he's older and docile, deff not a puppy one, and as long as he's very well-trained. but to be honest, i wldn't leave either breed alone in a room with small children, teen are okay, though. look up English bull terriers on you tube, there's a video of an older white EBT playing with a baby, if you're worried. but the first thing any good EBT breeder will ask you is 'do you have any children?'

Was the whippet called a whippet because of its whip tail?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Gangsters and Cops both called sawed off shotguns Whippets because they can be easily concealed and then whipped out for use very fast, Clyde Barrow always had several in his arsenal and called them his whippet. I am third generation Police Officer, my Father was a Sheriff of a large California Sheriffs Dept. He had a cut down Remington model 11 he always carried in his car, He too called it His whippet.

2nd Answerer says: I don't suppose any of those shotguns had tails. The dog was likely named this (around the 1600) because the word whip carries the connotation of "move quickly", per the Online Etymology Dictionary, related link listed below.

What is the difference between a whippet and a lurcher?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A whippet is a classified, pedigree breed. (looks like a small greyhound) a lurcher is not a pedigree breed as lurcher's are a greyhound crossed with absolutely anything, seen as a mutt in some peoples eyes. the original lurcher was a briard Shepard dog crossed with a greyhound.

hope this answers your question

Where can you buy whippets?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The best place to get a Whippet is from a reputable breeder or from a Whippet rescue organization. For the rescues, do a web search. For the breeders, you can do the same, or go to: thewhippetarchives.net . There you can find your country, then click on breeders till you find one that has a website listed. It may take you a while to get the hang of the site because its true purpose is a geneological database for the breed. But it has to be the site with the most info. But if you want an easy way, do a web-search with the keywords "whippet breeders in <your country>, links". Its a great breed.

What does a pittbull whippet look like?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

They are big and sturdy. They look like a ChowChow without the wrinkles and all the hair. To me they look like a gold Akita.

Totally incorrect, they have a whippet like body with a staff / pit bull head. Good for rabbiting and foxing. Best described as a pocket rocket. They sand up to about 20 inches oin average

I wish I could post a picture of ours. She's built mostly like a whippet--large rib cage, skinny greyhound-like torso, long legs, long snout (but not as skinny as a whippet snout), but her head is shaped like a pit bull--squarish. Her haunches and chest are muscley like a pitty, her face wrinkles like a pitty, and her ears flop like a pitty. Plus, she is blonde with white boots and white strip up her snout. Her tail curves up like a whippet. Very pretty dog.

What is the difference between a greyhound and a whippet?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Well, a Whippet is a cross with a greyhound and another dog (commonly a terrier or a spaniel), so it depends on the strength of the other breeds. Although, greyhounds are taller and can run very fast but whippets are smaller and generally more stream lined! I'd say it's up to you but greyhounds are bred for racing!

Both of these dogs are quite simple to look after so it depends on which you prefer really but whippets might probably be easier as they are smaller. I am getting a whippet soon and a couple of days ago I wanted to know that to. Xx. T .xx (look for my other answers on animals around the place)

it dosent really matter what dog you have as an pet,it could be the worst dog in the world as long as you treat it well and as long as you train it well it dosent matter

Tell you the difference between Italian and Latin?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Italian is a kind of Latin, in a sense, since Italian developed from Latin.

Latin still has its old case endings such as -us, -um, -ius, -ii, -ae, etc.--this is the easiest way to spot Latin. If you see small words such as "il," "la," "e," "sono," etc., then it's likely Italian.
