Care of Fish

Parent Category: Fish
Fish are fascinating creatures to watch. Keeping them in an environment that makes it easy for us to observe them is a challenge with many questions. Ask your questions here.
one gallon is 4 cups of water u can do rest of the maths
The width of females are wider than males, and the male's barbels (whiskers) are also larger.
pretty all types of cichlids do. they might like laser pointers, like a cat does
They do not show certain actions that inform you that fishes are about to lay eggs. The fish's abdomen will get bigger, and the male fish can get aggressive at times. Gold barbs scatter their eggs wherever they please, being egg-scatterers.
Yes, you can! It also depends on the accessories that you have in your tank. Research the required items/temperature of water for each fish. :) Hope I helped.
About 5 to 7 years in the wild.
That depends entirely upon the species. Some species are actually impossible to determine unless you catch them in the act of breeding.
A carnivore snail will eat meat or eat other snails and a herbivore snail will not eat meat and will only eat vegetables.
Of course they can all fish have gills which allow them to breath in water.
mostly smaller fish like mollies guppies snails and otocinclus
yes.you can teach angelfish tricks like play dead, stand, ect.(and some more tricks)
Not so easily, but it's extremely hard to breed as well the fish have no gender unless you put two in a tank they will sort it out themselves usually the larger clown fish
keep in mind some fish change gender after matting so it would be hard or rare
Mosquito Larvae, aquatic crustaceans, worms. They will also eat flakes, algae granules, bloodworms, crushed pellets, brine shrimp, or baby shrimp.
It is about to die or it is old or weak
Keep them in their own large tank with only a few inches of water. Try to feed them a variety of foods. Change half of their water. Add about 10 degree cooler water to trigger the hatching. Be warned, they will eat their own eggs/tadpoles. I hope this helps.
No they just get weak
Because they are still newborn
I think they come from krill, right i don't think so
When they cant swim and they don't eat wait or is that a gubby
FIrst of all that is gross and second of all nothing really if you actually cook it if you dont it is like if yo ate worms
I suppose it would help if there was at least one complete sentence, And also if they mentioned how many kilograms mother actually bought. But to read the question it makes no sense.
You can get them at local hermit crab ( pet stores ). You can get it at stores that sell hermit crabs. ~~ Commercial brand foods for hermit crabs aren't good for them. Feed them a variety of food that you would eat. Food that you buy in the store has harmful preservatives and does not...
Some fish have only a few offspring, some lay tens of thousands of eggs each time.
The babies were too large and they got stuck at delivery time?
How long does what last? The tank lasts as long as it isn't cracked, The filter lasts as long as it is cleaned, and you must do efficient research on the specific fish you have in mind for its lifespan. And by the way, this site doesn't count as efficient research.
im pretty sure that not all crabs eat hermit crab food. unless that u mean that do all hermit crabs eat hermit crab food? then the answer to that is yes. all hermit crabs eat hermit crab food.
Cichlids will do the best eating something like New Life Spectrum (also you may see it listed as NLS). It can be a little bit more expensive than the crappy flake food, but if you want to see good color and health go with NLS. ALSO!! NLS provides alot of food per purchase.. so you dont get robbed on...
yes they can eat a lot, scrup, crackers, but its better just to give them the fish food
when they get scared they move fast.
Other goldfish, bottom feeding fish (minus the Chinese algae eater) and some live-bearers. There are some others too so do some good research to find them. :)
I recommend doing a 50% water change once a week. That way the algae/bacteria doesnt get over the limit causing diseases to your fish but still helps the fish survive. Fish need Algea and bacteria to survive. So I wouldn't do a full tank clean to often. But make sure your tank isn't close to direct...
it really depends on the size of your tank and the capacity of your filter....i have a 10 gallon tank and a 10-20 gallon filter so i clean mine once every 2 weeks...if you want your tank to remain crystal clear all the time, clean it once a week....mine gets a little bit cloudy by the end of 2 weeks...
First of all, dory fish is not a kind of fish. Dory is a hippo tang. They are a salt water fish just like in finding nemo.
Guppies can take up to two weeks.
In most cases, no. I cannot name any exceptions myself. However I do know that the Molly fish is a freshwater fish that can live in saltwater.
The fry inside the eggs will likely die and if they do hatch, they will probably die in the first few days or weeks.
I kept sucker fish in my small outside Koi pond which was 2.5 feet at the deepest point. Living in Lafayette, Louisiana we don't usually have freezing weather. However, several winters ago we got below 32 degrees for a couple days and all the sucker fish perished.
No, I wouldn't recommend it. Bettas can be very aggressive, hence the name Siamese fighting fish.
Flying fish live in the bottom layer of the ocean.
There are a number of meanings - Yin-Yang, Male/Female, Day/Night, Water/Fire, Sun/Moon. It all stems from philosophy of taoism.
Gouramis are beautiful! Their color depends on the type, but they are all pretty similar looking otherwise. They are tall and thin and have wide dorsal and pelvic fins but a relatively small caudal fin. They have a superior mouth and two long feeler-like rays at the front of their bodies.
It is not recommended to allow Axolotls (mexican walking fish) to come out of water as you will force them to metamorp into salamanders , this is not good for the axolotls health ,the stress alone can kill them. If they do survive the process their life span is severely shortened as is the quality...
They keep chasing each other because they like to have fun and they like to not have energy.
1 tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons, so slightly less than 1/4 tablespoon.
I will tell you in a few steps how to take care of goldfish (I take care of them in a 5 gallon aquarium too!) below:How to Take Care of Goldfish:First, get your 5 gallon tank.Wash your tank thoroughly. Water would flow into its cells because it is in a hypotonic solution... and it would die.
The female will become very round and swollen with eggs. The male will develop white spots called "tubercles" on his gills and pectoral fins.
Danio fish like to swim on the top, and they like to swim back and forth all of the time( mine do)
Goldfish cannot live properly in a 5 gallon tank. Goldfish need 20 gallons for the first fish, and 10 gallons per additional fish after. It's not simply about their size potential, which is big, but the fact that they produce a lot of waste.Guppies and goldfish are not compatible as they have...
Yes. It's possible. But you must wait until the female is ready to mate once again for another season.
Usually the filters you can buy will specify what size (in gallons) the filter is meant for.
Your guppy could be very old and is life is probably catching up to him. His final days might be coming. I may be wrong too. Your guppy could also be sick. Have you been cleaning your fish tank? Have you been feeding him too much food? These are questions you could ask yourself when...
just leave 2 mails and 1 female guppy in the tank with no other fish in the tank at all times.-Shocker There should be 3 females to one male. If there are too many males, the females will get stressed out. I would recommend a larger fish tank than a half gallon. Maybe a 10 gallon tank. Remember...
My snails lived up to 9 months. They were eaten by the Angelfish.
Mermaids have the upper bodies of women and fish tails.
Not to humans but will probably attack some other fish

:) Veggie matter! :) Whether in pellets, flakes, or just raw vegetables (best) it doesn't matter! A Fightn' Fish Fact- peas(with their outer shell removed) are good for the swim bladder! ;)
This is for betta fish cause they are the only fish that can stay in a bowl but you can use it for other fish not that you should put an other fish in a bowl : When you first get the fish clean out the bowl (make sure there's no dust or anything). How to clean the bowl the first time: At the first...
Like most other creatures, an axolotl will flee when in danger. When cornered, they will bite/snap at their assailants.
yes because like the bottles the glue wont get out so it wont damage the water so the glue around the fish tank wont damage the fish
The African dwarf frog can indeed live with fish in a five gallon aquarium. BUT BEWARE!!! dwarf frogs may eat your fish small enough to fit in it's mouth. so i recommend Platy and live-bearers as companions.
To my knowledge, live bearers! Have fun! ;)
No, they do not.
I do not believe so. I have never heard of or seen this occurring naturally. No, this is not possible, guppies can only mate with other guppies. Actually, yes. The offspring are all sterile males. So you can't get any further fish from the mating.Do not be missled. Guppies and Mollies are totally...
yes, but you should plan on keeping more than just ONE tetra. Tetras are schooling fish, and they probably wont breed in your tank(they may, but they probably wont), so i recommend at least five.
I have a pet fish and they do make sounds. I once leaned against the glass and heard quite sounds don't worry if you can't hear them. :P They either make, PlopPlopPlop or better yet, BlopBlopBlopBlop
all fish that labyrinth organs. (Bettas, Gouramis, Corydoras, etc.) Though many other hobbyists argue against keeping fish in bowls because of the lack of space and cleanliness. But from my research, Ive found that if you change a fish bowl's water once a week, the fish would be fine. But I...
They are tropical fish. But are found to be more tolerable of temperature. If the surounding air temperature is kept reasonable and therefore the bowls water is kept a reasonable temperature then it is possible, but most of these types of fish grow rather large in time.
No! Well, that depends on what you mean by a fishbowl. If you literally mean a bowl with marbles and water like you would use for a goldfish or a betta, no. If you mean an aquarium with plants and an actual heater and filter, then yes. Hatchet fish make good freshwater aquarium fish.
Bettas are carnivores, though when starving, they have been known to eat plant roots, or other plant material. This is very bad for them, as their digestive system is not suited to digesting plant matter. It will clog up their system and kill them over time. Just go to walmart and shell out the $3...
i don't know how long corydoras have existed, but they can live an average of 5 to ten years. however some people have kept theirs' for12.
Naturally, no. But one would eat the other's fry. DONT PLAN ON PUTTING THEM TOGETHER! They will require different temperatures and diets to maintain.
shrimps and fish
They are a scavengers and predators so they are carniverous
Betta fish of nearly all kinds have thin, relatively flimsy fins to get through almost flowless lakes and ponds called Rice Patties. They spend a lot of time floating because it is a lot of work to swim about for them,(That's why its best to keep them in wide tanks instead of tall) as...
Well i have 2 tanks running a 55gallon cichlid tank and a 30 gallon cichlid tank.First all you need to do is put the tank where you want it.Then you get the gravel you want for the substrate. You can either boil the gravel or rinse it off good to get rid of gravel dust.Than you put the gravel in the...
I'm going to say no because live-bearers do not have the jaw strength to inflict true damage on each other. However, they are prone to eating eggs and fry.
