The Modoc people occupied the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains, into the areas that became Oregon and northern California. They were close neighbours of the Klamath and Molala tribes.
in some parts some of the modoc indians had a diet of food they ate deer,raccoon,opssum,birds, and fish.there were a few small trees but no large timber.they even ate quails, partridge, and the wild turky were found,for these indians did not like to raise corn like white men do.they dug up wild onoins, lily buds, and camas plants to eat, and found plenty of ducks in the clear lake and tule pond
