Ususally you'll find that you'll have to identify hand signals for cranes (boom out, boom in, dog everything, cable down, boom up, etc.), identify abreviations for terms found on ISO's (WOL, TOL, TOS, BOP, TOP, etc.), identify a measurement on a tape (e.g. 5/32"), and at worst solve a rolling offset.
When home schooled you will be required to follow a base curriculum. Any diploma will be issued following awarding body requirements - If there is no association between the schooled student and an awarding body there will be no awards (certification) Some online organisation offer their own "in-house " certification but these are generally not acceptable across many other educational establishments and employers . They will prefer nationally recognised awards.

The benefits of standardized testing are constantly debated; while the system was a given for decades, it is often criticized as unfair, inaccurate and in need of updating to reflect reality.

One of the problems is that coaching can often boost scores significantly. Moreover, people who take a lot of tests have a significant advantage over people who do not. In other words, the tests test other things in addition to what they claim to test.
You could go to the nearest military recruiting station and ask one of the recruiters to take the asvab test.

Transcripts are most likely sent to the school where students from the closed school will be attending. You can contact that school and if they do not have them, contact the school system's central office. They will know where they are.
Many schools keep their records on computers, so it might just be a case of the transcript being accessed and printed out.
Fairness is subjective and depends upon your definition and what is being tested. Goals of tests can vary according to what outcome is desired - problem solving capabilities, learned knowledge retention, street smarts, physical strength, ability to work under pressure, specialized skill sets, etc.
One way you could ensure a test is fair would be to make certain that everyone taking the test had the same opportunities to learn what is being tested. Even then, you can get into the debate of which teachers, schools, or training programs taught the subject better.
The purpose of testing is to expose weaknesses - either to select the best or to determine where improvements could be made - and that will be 'unfair' to someone.

take the SHSAT (specialized high schools admissions test) in october of 8th grade. it's reading and math, but its really hard. out of 22,000, about 800 will get into stuy. there r actually 9 specialized high schools, of which 8 of them u gotta take the shsat, and stuy is 1 of them. the board of ed takes the student with the highest score and puts him/her in the first specialized high school of their choice. then they just go down the list of scores until one of the school's seats are filled, so they put that next kid in their second choice school, and so on. ur raw score (from 0-100) is scaled into the scaled score (0-800) and only the board of ed knows the exact number to multiply them, its pretty complex. all these years, the cutoff score (u need a score higher than this if u wanna get into the first school of ur choice) was around 560 for getting into stuy. i did the math and that's around getting a 70 for ur raw score. stuy high is really a gr8 school. GOOD LUCK!!!:)
Fill-in-the-blank questions are testing your understanding of context and facts. Usually, if you have been paying attention and keeping up with your homework, the question will be pretty simple to figure out. Example: "Twinkle, twinkle, little ___" should be familiar to anyone who has heard the song. However, in order to fill in the sentence "Snakes can unhinge their ___ to swallow food," you need to have studied snakes in your science class so that you remember that they unhinge their jaws. Here are some specific tips for different kinds of questions. * If there is a list of words that you can use, try putting each word into the blank and reading it (to yourself if you are in class, out loud if you are alone) to see if it makes sense in that spot. * If you have a comparison question ( "x is to y as z is to ___"), think about what you know about x and y, then see if you can think of anything that will have a similar relationship to z. For example: "Boat is to water as helicopter is to ___" would make you think about how boats and water go together. Boats are things you can use to travel in water, so you would think that helicopters are things you can use to travel in air, then you would choose "air" as your answer.
A score of 3 on the writing portion of the FCAT is a passing score. An exact score of 300 or higher must be earned in order to be considered as passing.
