How do you break your waterbag during pregnancy?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I assume you are desperately overdue. A fun way of trying to bring on labour is having sex. It might not be true but hey, make the most of it while you can. After baby appears, you may not have the time or inclination. Make sure sex is not too rough and maybe try different positions, like spoons, to accommodate your belly. Have fun!!! And good luck for your baby.

How long can you labor after water breaks before they will do a c section?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

C-sections are scheduled to be done before labor begins. Contractions can cause many complications in a cesarean delivery. If labor is stalled and an emergency c-section is required, the dilation is not relevant.

How long can a baby last in the womb after water breaks?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It depends on may things, if you have a high leak the membranes may seal and the pregnancy can continue. If your membranes are ruptured after 12 hours there is a fear of infection setting in, dangerous to both the baby and mother - you must be closely monitored for fever, pain and fetal distress. Another thing doctors look at is the cause of premature rupture as an infection is sometimes the cause, in that case antibiotics will be given and you may need to be induced or delivered by Cesarian Section to prevent further complications.

Is it dangerous to leave birth for 1 week after waters have broken?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

hi, my waters started leaking at 24 weeks, i was kept in hospital for 3/4 days and it stopped. i was given antibiotics to fight infection and steroid injections to strengthen my little boys lungs. i am now almost 2 weeks on and no baby but yet he has a very strong heartbeat and he kicks me almost all day long. i am still being monitered weekly but as long as my baby is safe there is no need for me to deliver him yet. But i do understand every case is not the same, you just got to rest up and take the doctors advice and take it as easy as possible.

Does water break at 4 months causing miscarriage?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Your body sounds confused! Well there are a million reasons for this, mostly involving nature!

I think either you hit your stomach a bad way and something snagged on your 'water bag' or perhaps your due date is wrong? Maybe you had a false menstrual cycle? It happens, it is like an imitation period and maybe you're 6-7 months rather than 4? Things like that ARE rare but definitely happen!

Ever heard of the show, I didn't know I was Pregnant? Watch it. It's scary nuts!

The baby wont begin to breathe as such, until it is born. it will still receive oxygenated blood from its mother via the umbilical cord. this is enough until it is stimulated to breathe after delivery.

As labor begins, the muscular wall of the uterus begins to contract as the cervix relaxes and expands. As a portion of the amniotic sac surrounding the baby is pushed into the opening, it bursts under the pressure, releasing amniotic fluid.

What is the pathophysiology of normal spontaneous vaginal delivery?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A spontaneous vaginal delivery (SVD) is a medical term used to describe when a pregnant woman goes into labor without the use of drugs or techniques to induce labor, and delivers her baby in the normal manner, without a cesarean section. In other words, it is the natural birth of a child, simply without the intervention of modern techniques devised by humans.

The general motive behind choosing to proceed with a SVD rather than a modern delivery is of concern over the possibility of artificial methods having an unnatural and unintended harmful effect on the infant. It is widely accepted that synthetic medical drugs have been observed to produce adverse health effects and as such the FDA attempts to enforce disclosure of these effects to consumers, when the effects are deemed statistically significant. In addition to these known risks, medication carries with it the risk of causing harm in ways not currently known or understood. Although most professionals in the medical industry would contend that such risks are often negligible, being that drug use is so common, there are however many holistic practitioners, other professionals, and members of the public which disagree with this contention and are not willing to take the risk. Afterall, an infant child is a fragile creature, intimately connected to the health of its mother.

As for pain management, one may consider the most natural approach to be a healthy diet, high in antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, essential fatty acids (omega-3), etc. The psychological factor can also be effected through more-natural means, through something as simple as learning to stay calm, or through procedures such as hypnosis. Some might consider taking certain plants ("herbs") not normally considered food, with the intention of having them function as natural pain killers. This approach however might not be considered acceptable by those striving for as natural a process as possible, as it is possible for herbs to contain biochemicals which function very similarly to synthetic chemical drugs. Yes, this is possible. go to the emergency department right away so they can test the fluid to be sure. If you are leaking amniotic fluid there could be an infection risk to your baby or yourself, if you do not receive medical attention.

What does a doctor break a pregnant womans water with?

The doctor or midwife uses a small hook (which actually reminds me of a crochet hook) to pierce the amniotic sack once the cervix has opened during labor. This is normally done during active labor so you will not even notice it being done.

What is the water when your water breaks?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The "water" is actually amniotic fluid. The fluid surrouns the baby and protects the baby and the umbilical cord from being compressed. When your water breaks some of the water comes out but then the baby's head presses against the cervix and keeps all of it from coming out until after birth.

How do you naturally break your water to go into labor?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I would not suggest trying to break your own waters. It can cause damage to you and anything introduced into the vagina, to help break the waters, could bring with it infection and cause again damage to you or the baby. Things you should know about laboring with your waters broken are: 1. Without the bag of waters, the baby will not have as much room to maneuver around, if your baby is in an OP (occiput posterior, baby facing out which can lead to a slower labor and back pain) position it can make it difficult for the baby to turn towards the OA (occiput anterior, the optimal position for labor and delivery) position 2. The amniotic fluid acts as a cushion to the baby, including the umbilical cord. Without the cushion of the amniotic fluid, the baby's umbilical cord could be squeezed, cutting off oxygen to the baby and causing your baby to go into distress. There are other natural ways of inducing labor, but it is not a safe thing to do unless there is a medical indication that the mother or the baby needs to be delivered before labor starts naturally on its own.
