A 1-lb. block of Velveeta has about 16 servings. Each serving contains 80 calories, 50 of which are derived from fat.
You can buy pepper jack cheese (East Coast), at any Giant Eagle or Shop N' Save, or (West Coast), at any of your local grocery stores.
Use a double boiler. A double boiler won't burn it or harden the edges as readily as a microwave, or a pot or pan set on a burner on a stove top. It will leave the product warm, smooth, and creamy, like for fondue, or nachos. There should be less waste that way too; more edible product, less tough, burnt, inedible product.
Ok, according to their website, that is a "sell by" or "best by" date for the highest quality not an expiration date.
I found this on one of the food safety sites:
Shelf Stable Foods
Before opening, shelf stable foods should be safe unless the can or packaging has been damaged. After opening, store products in tightly closed containers. The storage of many shelf stable items at room temperature is a quality issue - unless the product is contaminated (bugs in flour, for example).
Macaroni and cheese is a matter of personal taste--you may like it cheesier than someone else, with topping or without, etc. I use about a pound (half of the most common sized box) for a large, deep-dish casserole, and it's pretty cheesy. I cut it into small cubes and stir it into the macaroni (already boiled) with some milk (a cup or so). After baking it (at 350F) for 20 minutes to allow the cheese to melt, stir it to coat all the macaroni. Continue to bake until the cheese starts to brown, then take it out and serve.
No. I would try not to eat something expired just to be safe. Expiration dates are there for a reason. Still expiration dates are approximate so it depends on how long Velveeta Au gratin potatoes have been expired.
fake cheese doesnt mould you knob heads it fake wtf
Hi umm. I would say that the real cheese molds faster because you pay more for it and it doesn'y have all the preservatives .Happy ThanksgivingDue to the high level of preservatives, Velveeta becomes unpalatable long before it becomes unsafe to eat. Also there must be an expiration date on the package .
No. It is ultra-pasteurized , but once opened, must be refrigerated.
Nope. Once it is opened it needs to be put in your refrigerator, cooked or not.
It all depends on the shredded cheese but it is 17 1/2 cups.
Edited Answer:
1 lb shredded cheese = 16 OZ which = 4 cups
2 weeks in the fridge
Answer 2:
Hi to all, I called the Krafts Food website. Velveeta cheese loaf should be used within 8 weeks if it has been opened and stored in the refrigerator,or the "use by" date, which ever comes first. It should have been covered in the original wrapping plus additional wrapping such as plastic wrap.
Answer 1: Unopened package - 4 to six months. If you open it and then use Saran Wrap or something like that to cover the cut edge it will last about a month. If you don't cover the cut edge it will dry out in a week or two. You can cut off the dried part & eat the rest.
How much a block of cheese weighs depends on how big the block of cheese is. Some blocks of cheese are 2 pounds while others might be as big as 30 pounds.

It is a brand of processed cheese, first made by a Swiss emigrant to the USA in 1918, It is a popular as a cheese dip
I don't think so .... stores don't always display it in cold cases, but it will last longer if you do refrigerate it.
I made a big thing of chili cheese dip (it has cream cheese, chili, refried beans, salsa and cheese in it) and we can't possibly eat it all. Can I freeze it for later? I know there are certain foods you shouldn't freeze because they don't do well after you've frozen them. Would this be okay to freeze??
