Earhart's last transmission to the nearby Itasca came at 8:43 am on July 2, 1937. They were running on line 157 337 north to south. The Itasca could receive her transmission but she didn't receive theirs in return. Howland Island received one last transmission from Earhart and then nothing. She was declared dead on Jan. 5, 1939.

It is not known whether the Wright brothers were afraid to take the first ride. They did, however, flip a coin to see who would go first. Orville won.
The first flight cost roughly 15 dollars, the gasoline powered plane they flew at kitty hawk cost them less than $1000 to build.

From there on out they loved the concept of flying, although this has never been proven.
