Professional repair people use an eraser type sander to sand down the burnt area. Then they custom mix a two part epoxy putty-like glue to match the color and carefully apply and lightly squeegee off the excess. A properly matched patch should be very difficult to detect. A second application may be necessary for deep divots. A countertop specialty store may sell kits to do these repairs

It is fairly easy to remove smoke damage from textiles such as curtains and removeable coverings (such as a slipcover for a sofa or fabric covering the sofa pillos/cushions). I do not know of anyone who has successfully managed to remove the damage from the "bulk" of a sofa or mattress (the stuffing). Part of the problem is due to the fact that steam cleaning only cleans the surface of the furniture (about 1.5 inches deep) so that over time, the smell begins to seep back out again.

Try placing the sofa or mattress outside in the sunshine. It does help. Have drapes and the like professionally dry-cleaned.

After a fire in our home we washed our clothes at the laundromat with Purex liquid detergent and smoke odors were removed just fine! With our couch and loveseat we put it in our garage to air out then did the Febreze thing and there is no smoke odor at all. We did the same with our mattress. We didn't have anything professionally done, but we are using all the above furniture in our apartment now and it is just fine.

It is not recommended that a washer or dryer by used to clean Ugg boots. Ugg recommends wetting the entire boot with cold water and then using Ugg Sheepskin Cleaner and the provided brush to clean the entire boot. Once clean, thoroughly rinse the boot with cold water, stuff the inside of the boot with paper towels to keep the shape and then at least a day for the boot to dry.

Antibacterial hand soap is not a grease remover for the most part, nor is it formulated to be used on things that will handle food.

First of all unplug the oven. You can clean it with a dish washing soap solution and a sponge, then dry it up with a dish towel. Leave the microwave open for about an hour to make sure that it dries properly. If odors persist, you may use a chlorine (bleach) solution of about half a cup of chlorine for 1 liter of water. If possible, check your microwave's manufacturer manual for cleaning tips, as some microwaves may require special precautions for cleaning.

this wont help you fix the current problem but one way to keep it from happening is to not use dish detergent... Make sure to use dishwashing liquid specifically designed for dishwashers... no suds

Leather is pourous, and the ink may well be permanantly set. Any chemical you use to try to remove the spot may damage the leather even more. If the leather is ruined anyway, you may try hairspray as a last-ditch effort to dissolve the ink. You may also try denatured alcohol if the hairspray does not work.

I think if you use 'Big Wipes' that come in yellow and black boxes and can get rid of almost any stain. Our buliders gave them to us when they left and we have been using them ever since. Try it has got rid of all our stains and are available from all good DIY stores.

To remove a sticker or the residue from a sticker from a suede couch, alcohol can be used. Begin by dabbing the alcohol onto the sticker to dissolve the glue. After a few minutes the adhesive should broken down enough to remove it from the fabric.

It is safe to machine wash a vinyl tablecloth, just make sure you follow the instructions on the tag. Do not wash with any other item and choose the gentle cycle. Usually a small amount of soap and cool water will do the trick. I use this method for vinyl shower curtains as well.
