I recently filled a giant fish bowl with steaming hot water to clean it. The fish bowl also contained many glass marbles at the bottom. BAD IDEA. When I went to dump the water out the brittle glass exploded into the sink and many shards of glass and glass marbles went down the disposal. My method for removing? I used a long metal spoon bent at the end to scoop up all the marbles (took about 30 minutes). I then picked up as many glass shards as I could with the spoon. I eventually had 3 or 4 smaller pieces of glass I could not reach. I turned the disposal on and the glass ground up a bit and went down the drain...no problems.

This was a tedious method and I needed lots of light. I suggest trying not to drop glass down the drain. I wanted to make sure the sink was clear of glass fragments as well so I used wheat bread to wipe up the sink. I was amazed at how many small pieces the bread grabbed. Might work for you as well.

Barkeepers Friend may work. Or, a soak in hot water with ammonia in it. Either way, it will take some elbow grease. You may want to cook at lower temperatures.

Dry cleaning. Or if it was mine I'd take a spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol o Axe bodyspray (rubbing alcohol if you don't want the Axe fragerance) and spray the coat and the put it outside on a really windy day and let it flap around in the wind all day, that would probably work.

Rub some kind of oil on all the surfaces. If it going to be used for food, lard was traditionally used. But you could use any vegetable oil. The easiest way is to put some oil on a cloth and then rub it really well. Heating it afterwards also helps set the oil in the metal better. Another method for long storage is you rub wax all over it and then wrap it in an oiled cloth, then wrap it in plastic.

I have a g.e. gas cooktop with grey porcelain grates for 8 years and it still looks like new. The only way I have found that works every time is regular ammonia. If you follow these directions you will restore the grates original finish unless the finish is scratched or chipped.
use a pot with a lid large enough to hold 2 or 3 grates. Place a small plastic container in the pot with about 1/2 cup of ammonia. Lay the grates over the cup and place the lid on the pot. Leave the pot covered for at least 12 hours. This will soften the burned on food and grease so that you can scrub off the gunk. For best and easiest way to remove the gunk, scrub with a nylon or course fibrous pad, but do not wet the pad. Dry works best. To make the job easier, spray the grate with a cleaner called Krud Kutter before scrubbing. Let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes then scrub the grate with the pad and rinse in hot water and dry. If there is still gunk or stain on the grate you may need to repeat the process or polish with baking soda. Be patient and don't rush. You must allow enough time for the ammonia to work. It is the fumes and not the liquid ammonia that does the job. If you do not have a pot that will hold the grates then use a heavy duty plastic bag and fold the open end closed to seal in the fumes.
I have tried many other products and methods and none of them worked or even came close to this way. For the baked enamel pans under the grates. spray with Krud Kutter. let sit for ten minutes and rub with a damp sponge. For more stubborn spots polish with baking soda. rinse with clean damp sponge and dry. Wipe off any spills before they bake on and the whole job will be easier and you will be happier. If this doesn't work, buy new grates and follow this method. Good luck, Len.

Take a wet rag place it over the end of the pizza oven cleaning brush. Scrub the surface while heated and it willl steam the grime off.

Every supermarket sells a cleaning product called "Murphy's Oil Soap". Mix it a bit stronger than recommended on the label, and thoroughly wash your cabinets. One good thing, you don't need to rinse. You may decide after the fact that they need a second washing - if so, do it. Once they are truly clean, and not greasy anymore, use the product called "Cabinet Magic" on them. You're talking about a lot of "elbow grease", but it will work.

The easiest way is to heat it and here's how.

Lay a paper towel over the hardened wax. Place a hot iron on top and move it over the paper towel. The heat will melt the wax and the paper towel will absorb it. Repeat as necessary until all the wax is gone.

You can keep using the same paper towel over and over, but if it gets too full of wax, grab a fresh one.

This method also works on wax spills on carpeting, tablecloths, counters, etc.

Alternatively, you could freeze the wax on your fireplace surround using ice cubes, then chip it off since the marble shouldn't scratch but the heat method is faster and easier with less mess.
