Do goldfish have babies?

Of course, all animals have babies. This is because reproduction is the only way to keep a species from becoming extinct. Since all living things eventually die, reproduction ensures that there will be a next generation to that species.

Edit:

In addition, goldfish lay eggs, which then hatch. The only type of fish that give birth to live young are Livebearers.
If there is both a male and a female and they are in breeding state it is possible.

How many fish can be put in 20 gallon tank?

After deducting the amount of space not occupied by water (say 1 inch at the top of the tank and 2 or 3 inches of gravel displacement at the base) your tank will contain about 15 gallons of water. If you stick to the basic rules which are "1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water". "Every tank containing aquatic life needs a cycled filter". and "Every tank needs to have at least 50% of its water changed weekly. You could have 2 small goldfish in the tank but they would eventually outgrow it because goldfish grow to about 10 inches.

Goldfish is swollen around the stomach and turning black?

Gold fish turn black because of exposure to ammonia. This is common in pet store gold fish, because they are kept in crowded fish tanks that are not maintained very well. The black color is like a scab healing over the damaged areas of the gold fish.

Why are your goldfish fins turning red?

The reason goldfish are any particular colour or intensity is all down to their breeding and genetics plus a certain amount of what the fish is/are fed (high carrotene content= high red colouration) and a bit of their apparent colour also depends on the kind of lighting the fish is/are under.

Your goldfish tank has got a strong smell of ammonia?

Cloudy Water is a sign of overfeeding. You should only feed goldfish the amount they can eat in about 3 minutes once per day. "A hungry fish is a happy fish". The reason it smells like ammonia is most likely because your tank is too small or you are using tap water to fill your tank. Tap water kills beneficial bacteria that breaks down your fish's waste under the gravel. If you use tap water then you should put water conditioner in it before it goes into your fish tank. To clear up your water I would do a full water change, wash the gravel and everything out, change the filter and fill it with dechlorinated water. Do not use soap to wash out your tank. After that do 20% water changes every 1-2 weeks. If you have more than 2-3 goldfish in a 10 gallon tank or less than you need a bigger tank. Goldfish are very dirty fish. So you should feed the fish less, clean out there tank, change the filter or buy a completely new filter, and buy a bigger tank if needed.

How cold should water be for pond fish?

Room temp. Cold water means they just don't need heat to survive. But keeping that in mind it still can't get too cold, I keep mine at around 70f in the winter and just let it be in the summer

Why would your Betta fish burrow under rocks?

Answer

Now this is just a guess but it might be pregnant. A female beta fish will do anything to hide from a male. Sme tomes fish will rub against rough things if they are itchy and they need medicine or some type of helpful fungus remover.

Bettas do not get pregnant they are egg layers the above is total rubbish.

Answer

I recently got our first betta and was very puzzled by this burrowing behavior! I called the pet store and was told that this was quite common. I was told that this is a sort of 'getting comfortable' type of thing for bettas to do -- as in, some rocks are just not as comfortable to lie on top of as other rocks or even the smooth floor of the bowl!

The pet store are lying to you. Bettas do not burrow and they certainly would not be 'getting comfortable'

Answer

I recently bought a Betta from petsmart and he burrows down into the rocks at the bottom of his bowl and he is perfectly fine. He doesn't ever "itch" he just lays on the rocks or under them. I know he is perfectly content because he is always making bubble nests which is a sign of contentment.

What should you do about a dying goldfish?

Some people choose to flush them down the toilet. Other people choose to barry them in their yard. If your fish has just died recently, and you are worried about the others getting sick and dieing too, before disposing the fish you may want to send it to a lab or piscine vet for an autopsy.

Can you put a betta fish in the same fish bowl or tank as a goldfish?

No, betta fish are tropical fish; goldfish are coldwater fish, this should be reason enough not to mix the two. The mixing of these fish would be irresponsible and could yield distatorous results. One reason not to mix them would be because betta fish are quite small; most don't even reach 1/3 the size of a goldfish (even when full grown!) it makes them very likely to get bullied by the other fish. Fin nipping can be a major problem and is dangerous for the health of the fish. Do all your fish a favor by not mix betta fish with goldfish.

Can you use soft water in a fish tank?

Yes, we should really separate soft water from soften water, soft water is a naturally occurring thing where the hardness never got into the water similar to rain water, soften water is water that has been artificially soften in some form. In some parts of the world primarily western Europe, they don't allow you to have totally soft water because it's somewhat aggressive in nature and has a tendency to dissolve in it some of the metals that are used in pipes so especially if there's galvanize pipe which contains cadmium, the installer or the manufacturer of the equipment actually builds it in a way to add a grainer to the hardness to prevent that from happening.

I was cleaning out my beta tank and he went down the garbage disposal so i turned on the water and popped right back up and i put him in his talk and he liked for another year and a half. Answer
I had an beta that jumped out of his tank and landed behind my bed. So I had to pull my bed back fast and put him in the tank before he died. Answer

Aside from the physical injuries, such as breaking their back, or if they're dropped in anything that could harm them, like dirt or heavy dust, or any chemical, the Betta will be just fine.
Bettas come from shallow streams in Siam (they're Siamese fighting fish, not Japanese or Chinese as most people think--and I thought). These streams get so shallow, they have to flip over on their sides to keep each side wet. I've been told they can live outside of water for up to two hours. I worked in a fish department, and while I've never kept one out of water for so long, 'just to see,' some have fallen while I was working and didn't notice, and I found them alive and healthy as much as 15-20 minutes later. This doesn't mean I reccommend trying it!!!

ANSWER

Another common observation after dropping a betta is poor swim coordination when back in water. If the fish suffers impact during the fall, his swim bladder gets 'the wind knocked out' of him and he has trouble righting himself. He may be in danger of drowning so a good trick is to lower the water level for him so he doesn't have to work so hard to get to the surface and keep an eye on him for respiration problems. Once he refills his air bladder, he generally recovers nicely and his tank can be refilled.

How can you know how old is your goldfish?

Underweight: the head will be wider than the fishes body Overweight: the fishes body will have a disproportionally large pot belly (please note that certain kind of fancy goldfish such as ranchu, pearl scales and lionhead naturally have a pot belly)

Do owls eat goldfish?

Owls are nocturnal predators with extremely acute eyesight. They eat small animals such as rodents and even fish as long as they are accessible.

Can you take fish out of their tank?

You should be doing a regular weekly water change of at least 50%, and during that time, you can use an algae scrubber to clean algae that may grow on the glass.

When you do your water change, you should use a gravel vacuum to clean up any debris or waste from the bottom of the tank which includes cleaning through the gravel.

You never want to tear down your tank & clean everything as this will remove all your good bacteria that keeps your water clear (Nitrogen cycle), but rather with regular maintenance, your tank will continue to look nice.

How do you tell if a goldfish is pregnant?

Goldfish do not get pregnant. They lay their eggs scattered about the tank or pond and then the male goldfish will try to fertilize them with sperm. This includes all types of goldfish from Oranda, Lionhead, Koi, Common, Shubunkin, Ryukin, Fantail, Veiltail, Comet, Ranchu, Black Moor etc.

Any strange behaviour exhibited by your goldfish may be related to the female being egg bound, but this is not a common occurrence. If your fish is floaty, it's a swim bladder issue, if it's laying on the bottom with clamped fins, or tilting sideways, it's a water quality problem.

The reproduction of goldfish does not, at any point, involve pregnancy. However, if you meant by pregnant "ready to spawn" then a fish who's getting ready to spawn will have a slightly larger abdomen than normal. This swelling is caused by the eggs growing inside her abdomen.
You will see thousands of black spots in its belly or its belly will be lots bigger than your other fish
You don't! Goldfish are egg layers and can't get pregnant.
Goldfish do not have a gestation period as they are egg laying fish and do not get pregnant
if its hungry a lot and if its really fat

Do shrimp eat live plants at the bottom of the pond?

While they are still smaller than 1 cm, they don't live on the bottom. They float around in the water. While at this stage they eat small plants and animals that are also suspended in the water. These are known as plankton. Shrimp grow very quickly and after a year they are usually about 4 cm long. By this time they need to live on the bottom to find enough food too keep them going, The variety of food they search for also becomes bigger with a preference for the meat of other animal as food, preferring to hunt after dark for small creatures like small mud shrimp, very small shellfish and worms. Shrimp like to scavenge dead crab, fish and other large creatures. They are also cannibals and smaller shrimp as well as shrimp that have just changed their shell are in danger of being eaten as well. Shrimp will eat anything and play a part in keeping the sea lagoon and river floor clean. The environment they find themselves in does not lend itself to clear visibility so they have developed a keen sense of smell that comes from the feelers that emanate from their heads. with them they can navigate the muddy bottom in the darkness.

What tropical fish can live with goldfish?

it depens on what type of gold fish u have ( ordinary or fancy ) The simple answer is no. You can not keep tropical fish and coldwater fish (goldfish) successfully for long. Amongst other things, Goldfish run out of oxygen and tend to stress when kept too hot for too long. The metabolism of Tropicals slows down when the water is too cool and their organs simply shut down and the fish die.
Tropical fish and goldfish prefer different temperatures; goldfish like to be at around 70F (room temp), whereas tropicals need more in the 78-84F range, and so putting them together can be problematic in that either the goldfish or the tropicals will be outside their normal temperature range, which can lead to stress and disease.

What would happened to the fishes if the water plants were removed from the aquarium?

The fish will eventually die. Bacteria will be produced from the uneaten food. Bacteria/disease will spread in the tank from excess elimination from fish. The bacteria and diseases will happily cling onto fish and kill them. Water changes, a good clean filter and less food will combat this problem.

Can you use betta complete water conditioner for goldfish?

Yes. Water conditioners that remove chlorine and ammonia should be used for all fish.

Does adding live fish to a fish tank increase its weight?

No, it doesn't since water is all around the fish and puts pressure from everywhere just as air puts pressure on us everywhere. But if the fish is the floor then it would be heavier since there is no pressure.

What food should a baby goldfish eat?

In the wild they eat tiny (microscopic) creatures and algaes. As they get larger they eat larger creatures and algaes. Specially designed foods are available in the better pet shops to feed fish fry.
they eat gold fish food need to make the flacks small enough for them but be sure they are not to small if the food sinks to the bottom it will create pneaumonia.

How many flakes should a goldfish have a day?

Goldfish should be fed as much as they can eat in approximately 2 minutes twice per day; it's typically about 1% of their body weight, so if they are quite small, it's not a lot of food, and as they grow, it will be a bit more.
Goldfish are easy to over feed as they like to act hungry all the time, but it's best to stick to a feeding schedule.
