Drinking age change to 21?

In my opinion, the legal drinking age should remain at 21 in the United States.

History and statistics often show that minors are not quite responsible enough to know when to say when. When I was young I feel I was in the majority. And I feel the majority of youth was simply to push everything to the limit. Rules, laws, parents, and drinking were all pushed to the limit. I believe only a small percentage of youth actually are mature enough to say no. Legalizing drinking at a younger age would only overflow into more drunk drivers on the roads. Review statistics of youth and drunk driving and just read any blog you come across. Usually the common factor is lack of experience behind the wheel combined with immaturity and recklessness. Those 3 combined are reasons enough to not lower the drinking limit.

Can a pregnant 15-year-old move out of their parents' home in Michigan?

No, pregnancy does not confer emancipation on a minor, nor does it supercede the legal age of majority for the state which is 18. If the situation is creating difficulties in the family home and/or the minor's parents choose not to support her, they or the minor should contact Michigan Department of Human Resources for assistance. Call the local area office or the main office at 517-373-2035 or e-mail dhsweb@michigan.gov or visit the website http://www.michigan.gov/dhs for information and/or help.

How do you stop a parent from moving out of Florida?

If you are a minor, there is not much you can do if the parents have a job and the family is moving to accomodate that. The best thing is to accept it as an opportunity, which it is, however painful it is to leave your current school, friends and so on. If you have a logical reason that would affect their decision then you can matter of factly present it--but it should concern the whole family's welfare.

In Michigan what are the legal rights and responsibilities of the parents of a 17-year-old who moves out?

According to the officers I spoke with two years ago when my 17-yo moved out, no. The parent is not legally or financially responsible for the child, except...it is my understanding that if the child is still covered by your insurance, you are still responsible for whatever medical bills are incurred that are not covered by the insurance until the child is no longer covered or is taken off the policy. Also, if there is an accident or the child is hurt, the parent is not automatically notified, either, because in the eyes of the state, the child is an "adult." BUT, if your child has a driver's permit, you will need to revoke it, because you CAN be held liable for any accident your child causes while only being in possession of a permit. But if that child doesn't have a permit and drives anyway, and gets in an accident or anything, that child is responsible, not you, only so long as you revoke the permit and take him off your auto insurance.
