In fact there is a street named Quiet Waters Lane off Cays Road near an area known as Mains Farm. Weather comes from the west, or off the water, sending storm and rain clouds over Seattle. However, the Cascade Mountains fall between Seattle and Spokane, creating a rain shadow that effects the eastern half of the state. Therefore, most of the precipitation seen in Seattle is stopped by the Cascades before it can reach Spokane, creating a much more dry and arid region then seen in Seattle.
