Acura TL and TLX

I won't say you CAN'T do this by yourself BUT, if you're a novice, find a local guy you trust to get it done. I don't recommend the dealer as they will take your bank account, shirt and first born for the job. I used to always change my break pads on my 73 Celica, 82 Corolla, 98 Nissan, etc but I do shy away from the ABS nowadays. If you want to do it, buy a guide from a local AutoZone or other autoparts store as it will be money well spent.

The fact that you asked shows you have no business tackling this repair. If it is done incorrectly serious engine damage will occur when you attempt the start the engine. Take it to a professional for this repair.

The 2006 Acura TL has a 3.2 L base engine size.

The 2012 Acura TL has a V6 engine.

I have a 98 3.5 rl and the manual says to use gas with an octane rating of at least 91.

Getting a factory terminal is likely not worth it.

First make sure the battery cable has enough slack to cut off the terminal, shave back the insulation and use a new terminal. If you don't have enough slack, you'll need to replace the entire cable.

If you have enough, remove the battery to save yourself from accidentally grounding/shorting our the battery.

Remove the negative battery cable, then remove the positive. Remove the battery.

Cut the battery cable where the terminal is. Strip about an inch of insulation. For my 2003 TL, I had to use the truck size terminal from Autozone as the normal one would not fit the 2 battery cables. Truck size = $3.50, car size = $2.99, not a big difference. Make sure the cable is free of corrosion. If there is any of the powder blue dust, clean it all out with a wire brush. Get the battery cable into the new terminal and tighten. Use electrical tape to cover any excess uncovered battery cable. Pop the battery back in, install the positive terminal then the negative terminal.

Open the hood. Directly behind the headlamps, along the frame you will see a white tab. Pull the tab up being careful not to pull it all the way out. Reach behind the headlamps and push the plastic "bumps" away from the passenger area. The lens assembly should start to come out towards the front bumper. Pull the assembly out and disconnect the wiring harness.

The assembly should be free of the vehicle. Behind the bulb you find a rubber protective insert. Take it out to expose the bulb. Turn the bulb 1/4 turn to the right to remove the bulb. Reverse order to install the assembly.

Vtec problems

The factory service manual for the 2006 Acura Tl explains that the engine holds 5.2 liters of oil. When cycling through monthly oil changes though, consumers are only expected to use 4.5 liters of oil as half a liter tends to stay in the system.

There is a plastic cover with a warning label (something to the effect of ''high voltage contents'' or something) that is held in place with a single tamper-proof torx bit. Remove the torx screw and twist the plastic cover off. The bulb is held in place with a spring loaded prong/wire. Pry the prong open, being careful not to bend it in any way. The bulb fits in only one way. It has raised and milled areas that allow this. Secure the bulb back with the spring loaded wire, being certain it is secured properly. For sure be CERTAIN not to touch the bulb with your fingers! Always use clean thin towel or camera lens paper. The oil residue from your fingers, when the bulb heats up, will cause the glass to crack under high temp that these bulbs get.

You don't need to cut the wires at all, I just got mine installed in 5 minutes with the adapter speaker plug, you can get them from Amazon or eBay for 16 bucks. You save a lot of time and you don't mess up the wire system of your car with the black tape and stuff.

Pressure is low for some reason-check your fluid.

The 2005 Acura TL's turning circle is 39.7 ft..

I don't know what year your talking. For a 96 2.5 TL, I am paying 600 for a used transmission(50K) with the associated parts, 600 for labor for a total of $1200. If you want a rebuilt, add on another $700-$1000 depending upon who you by the rebuilt from and what warranty your getting.

For an 96 Acura 2.5TL

Used replacement Total = $1200

Rebuilt Replacement Total = $2100

You replace the light bulb...there must be a shortage in the circuit because of a bulb being blown out...

The gas tank on the 2007 Acura TL holds 17.1 gal..

In the most miserable place to get a wrench to! Follow the lower radiator hose back to the engine block. It should be right UNDER the throttle body/air inlet. There are two 10mm bolts securing the two parts of the housing. Remove the temperature sensor, then remove the two 10mm bolts. You can leave the bolt with the ground leads attached. The lower rear bolt is a nightmare to reach but it can be done. Good luck.
