You are a 14 year old and just started taking adhd pills is it going to affect me as I get older?
My husband took Ritalin for six months as a child. It made him a zombie, eliminated his appetite, and stunted his growth. Though he was controllable, his mother loved him enough to take him off of them and just deal with his annoying habbits. Because he learned to live with it, and control himself without meds, he was able to join the military and is now an Apache pilot.
Many of the other ones, one starts with an A, allegra maybe? It has been banned in Canada due to the number of deaths. My personal advice... take vitamins, get 9 hours of sleep every night without fail, and eat a good breakfast. It made a difference for him.
Same thing to me I lost my appetite and im also very short
Do people with bipolar disorder have a low IQ?
I have been diagnosed as bipolar and I have a genius level IQ.
A lot of people with mild retardation or learning disabilities are diagnosed with some sort of mental illness but it does not apply to everyone.
I am able to process lots of different types of information at the same time and apply it analytically in problem solving situations. That is a benefit. Sometimes I think about too much stuff and I get distracted from what I'm doing. This isn't always good.
Do ADHD patients become severely depressed at times?
Depression comes from failure to accomplish. ADHD is like blowing fuses in someone and this leads to a meltdown of sorts. I was diagnosed with bipolar and the meds made me worse, when in fact i was ADHD and had to leave my Dr. because he thought he knew what was best for me. I suggested you read as much as you can out there about your symptoms and then you request to your Dr. what you want to try.You are in your own head not him! Most Dr. are trying out anything if they hear one word like "DEPRESSION" or "MOOD SWING" so be clear on your description of symptoms...really clear!
According to some sources, ADD and ADHD affect somewhere between 3% and 5% of all children. It actually gets diagnosed in up to 16% of all school aged children, which suggests that it may be over-diagnosed. While the conventional belief for years was that a person would "outgrow" it, more recent research suggests that up to 50% of children with it will continue to have symptoms into adulthood. Since behavior modification has been shown to be an effective component in treatments with ADD/ADHD, it is quite possible that the reason more adults who were diagnosed with ADD/ADHD as kids don't show symptoms as adults is that they learned to cope with it, not that it went away.
It has also been noted genetics seems to play a role in ADD/ADHD. Close relatives of people with ADD/ADHD are much more likely to also have ADD/ADHD than the general population. Males are roughly 2 to 3 times as likely to be ADD/ADHD as females. The gender difference may be due to higher susceptibility of males to ADD/ADHD or just a result of females being less likely to be diagnosed.
What is the disorder where your hyper and you can't stop it?
ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
well i have add and pretty muchly its really hard to concentrate sometimes especially when they're lots of distractions around like people talking. i know that i have difficulty doing simple jobs ,like emptying the dishwasher, in the evening when my medicine is wearing off. its hard to pay attention in class and hard to focus on things sometimes. i have heard although i don't know how accurate it is that add people are often more "intelligent", depending on how you define intelligent, than other people. however before i had my medicine i often got "not-so-great" grades because i forgot to do my assignments or forgot to turn them in. hope this helps. --add teen
How shoud you act around people with ADHD?
Around Autistic people you should act exactly the same as you do around neurotypical people or people with other neurodivergency. If an Autistic person requires a little adjustment in something they will tell you, even if non-verbal they can still communicate their needs and wants.
What should you do if you have ADD and your medications are not working?
Go back to Dr. who prescribed medications and explain what meds are/are not doing for you. It is hard to say why they are not working for you but every medication has different outcomes with every person. Good Luck! * You might want to look for an alternative non drug way to be able to pay attention better, look at the higher potential you would have. Try the Australian Bush Flower Essences Cognis 7 drops in 16 oz of water, shake and sip while needing to concentrate and wanting to retain better, can also be used for better recall. IF your problem is hyperactivity you might want to try the ABFE Calm & Clear Essence.

Tips on dating someone with ADHD?
1) When talking, don't beat around the bush. We can't read in between the lines and get impatient when we don't know where you are going with the conversation.
2) If we forget something, it's not because we don't care. We really just have problems with working memory.
3) Social cues - we have a hard time picking up social cues, reading between the lines, interpreting facial expressions and tone. Please be upfront and straightforward.
4) Constructive criticism needs to be done very gently. All negative criticism will NOT work with us. Make sure to put in some positive compliments too. We're sensitive to criticism and don't take it well when we feel like we're being picked on.
5) We're late, alot. If we need to meet you at 5pm, tell us 4:45pm but don't tell us you are incorporating that buffer time. This will help with your sanity due to our distractibility and difficulty with time-management.
What happens if an adhd person takes an energy pill?

If a 22 month old boy is very hyper could it be too much sugar or ADHD?
oh its just to much sugar. I'm 17. I'm ADHD. You can't really know if some is ADHD until about 7 years old
Any kind of sugar is bad for kids and has no nutritional value, a lot of processed food has sugar as an additive, so he's probably getting more than you realize. Avoid any processed foods and feed fresh vegetable (raw or cooked as little as possible) and fruits.
i dont give my son sugar he drinks water and milk and rarely eats candy bad for the teeth
Your 10 month old son tend to shake his head a lot is this normal?
I think a 10 month old is still making his body work
It is easy to see about 3 years old the child does not have a good concept on what is important they will devise rituals walking in circles until there is a dirt path. Just repeditive acts.
Vivid games sometimes they just scare the hell out of you.
Sometimes they act as if they were possessed.
Can you join the swat team if you have ADHD?
Joining a SWAT team typically requires meeting rigorous physical, psychological, and medical standards, which can vary by department. Having ADHD does not automatically disqualify an individual, but they may need to demonstrate effective management of their condition. Each case is evaluated individually, and candidates may be required to provide medical documentation and undergo psychological assessments. It's essential to consult with the specific law enforcement agency for their policies regarding ADHD and recruitment.
Is there a link between being a sociopath and having ADHD?
Some websites portend that as ADHD (can) create low impulse control there is cross correlation in this feature. A sociopath doesn't have the impulse control or capacity for forward planning and just acts on thinking. Coupled with this a sociopath does not have a conscience, feelings of guilt or remorse (they could kill their own child without any emotional disturbance if this so suited them). They have an underlying need for power and feeding of this ego and despite not attaching to surrounding people, they can enjoy a persons company and are inevitably very charming, charismatic people.
An ADHD person on the other hand does care about other people just like everybody else. In fact for some ADHD people, as their frontal lobes are firing so much faster than the typical brain it can make some very sensitive to their environments and the people around them so they are very aware of how others feel creating above average empathy levels, as opposed to a sociopath who has no empathy.
So if an ADHD child was severely neglected and not taught social protocols it is possible that their poor impulse control could lead them into a world where they were just acting on their own behalf, deviate into violent behaviors as acting out of boredom, restlessness and/or acting out behaviors they have witnessed (as a coping mechanism).
Adhd is not considered a congenital disorder?
ADHD is a grouping of behavioral or mental patterns: a mental disorder. It describes behavior but not an underlying cause. It’s like how a pain in your leg does not describe the cause of the pain. Is it broken, burnt or infected?
It looks like there are more ways to get ADHD: genetic, environmental and both. We just don’t know exactly what happens. Some recent Dutch research seems to indicate that for 80% of children with ADHD, most symptoms can be taken away by a personalized diet.
Full speculation mode - A big reason might be: The brain of someone with ADHD likes some food or activities too much. When consumed the brain makes so much dopamine that the body adapts and starts breaking it down faster. As a result normal dopamine production gets broken down faster too. On average you have to little dopamine in your brain, which is the stuff that makes you concentrate.

How disability may affect a child's development?
child may be bullied or discriminated.
wont have the same oppertunities as others e.g. jobs physical activities.
cause parents/guardians stress as they may not know how to control behaviour of the disabled child and may not be able to communicate feelings very well as they would like to.
may cause sibling rivalry as their sibling may not be receiving the amount of attention they would like and feel neglected. The sibling could also be embarrassed of how their brother/sister is and the condition they are in and may be subject to bullying.
