Can these allergies or reactions from a hornet's sting include rash and peeling of skin?

Yes, but if you have a raised pustulent area, you may have the stinger in there. Have somebody look with a magnifying glass. It will look black and about the size of the bottom 1/3 of a sewing needle.

Has anyone used the new electronic neti pot by Navage?

Yes! I've been using the Navage system for almost 2 months now. I'm a lifetime environmental allergy sufferer, as well as had horrible sinus infections. I've tried allergy shots, over the counter and prescription allergy medicines, prescription nose sprays, and even saline nose spray...you know, the works. Ever since starting the to use the Navage, my need for these medicines has almost completely gone away. I can't say enough great things about this product!

In January, just a couple of weeks after starting to use my Navage (1 time per day) I started getting my normal sinus infection symptoms because the weather kept changing. I could just feel my sinuses starting to fill up when I woke up in the morning. I promptly started to use the system 2 times per day, once in the morning and once at night. Within 2-3 days my congestion was gone, and it never turned into a sinus infection.

More recently, my husband was sick with a sinus infection, bronchitis and the flu--including a fever of over 103 for about 4 days--(and sadly all of those at once!). During this time I made sure to diligently use my Navage 2 times per day. I never caught any of it! I had 1 or 2 days of feeling not 100% but it never progressed further. I never caught his flu, which I find amazing this flu season!

On top of the benefits of preventing these recent rounds of illness; I have been able to stop taking one of my prescription allergy medicines. I use my Navage daily, and on really bad days (which are few and far between now) I might use a nose spray just to help make sure my sinuses stay open and draining. But even when it comes to the nose spray usage, I no longer have to use the maximum dose, and I don't have to use it every day anymore either. I can breathe easily through my nose again! And I no longer wake up coughing, or with plugged sinuses because things aren't draining.

Now, as to the experience of using the Navage....

At first, I admit, I thought it would feel weird. But I followed the directions that came with the system and after the second or third try I really had it down. It is actually rather soothing, especially if you heat the saline solution just for a couple of seconds in the microwave (again follow the directions that come with the unit). I joined the Club Navage, so I get my saline automatically sent to me once per month. I did the math one day, and I'm still saving money over what I would previously spend per month on cans of compressed saline spray (that is when the store even had it in stock). Its clean and easy! My father-in-law actually uses a neti pot, and flat out asked to watch me use my Navage to see how it worked, he was floored and couldn't get over how easy it was.

I also am pleased with the saline solution itself. I can be confident that it is the proper solution so as not to dry out or irritate my nose. I currently use both the original sea salt and the eucalyptus solutions. I can't wait to try the new "scents" they have of saline coming out in the future.

Add to all of that the top notch service I've received from the folks at Navage / Rhinosystems, and I'm one happy customer!!!!

I would highly recommend that if you're looking for a way to soothe your allergies or sinuses that you truly consider trying this product. It is a quick easy way to improve your overall health!

Is it rude to ask if food contains a substance you are allergic to and back talking to your parent?

Well, for the food allergies:

No. this isn't rude. Especially for those who have anaphylaxis, asking if the food you are about to eat contain a substance you cannot consume is life saving, and an act of safety. If you were to eat a food given to you by, say, a friends parent, they would be responsible for any harm caused to you. Therefore, it is vital to make sure that you know whether the food you are going to eat is safe, for everyone's sakes.

If your dog is a Cocker Spaniel and he keeps licking his paws - what do you do to treat this?

Your dog probably has an allergy to grains which are found in many dog foods. Try switching to a grain-free dog food. Taste of the Wild is one example. These are higher quality dog foods - more meat without the grain filler - and will cost more money, but your dog will be happy!

Is jojoba a nut?

Many people have allergies to many things other than nuts. Therefore the question "is jojoba oil an allergen" is.. NOT.. the same as "is jojoba a nut". For example, I am allergic to crustaceans as well as nuts so my concern could be very different from someone with a different allergy.

Who to deal or react to an allergies reactions?

An Allergist/Immunologist deals with the diagnosis and treatment of allergies. A general practitioner, internal medicine doctor, physician's assistant, family nurse practitioner and a few other specialties can deal with a patient who presents with an allergic reaction. Emergency room doctors often get severe allergic reaction cases and they save the patient's life by using epinephrine and anti-histamines. If the patient arrives at the ER with severe breathing problems sometimes they have to make a tiny cut in the throat and put a tube in to open up the air passage for the patient.

Some people have mild allergies they can control with the over the counter allergy medication available in stores.

Some have to be desensitized to the item they are allergic by receiving desensitization injections - relatively pain free and does not go deep into the patient's arm.

Children should be cared for by a pediatrician or a pediatric allergist/immunologist.

Would you be allergic to rabbits if you are allergic to dogs and cats?

Not necessarily. You could be allergic to just something a dog or a cat has, or maybe something they both have, and so it's not necessarily true that rabbits carry the same thing that you are allergic to, however, it is a possibility.

Why do humans have allergies?

Some examples of common antigens (things that cause allergic responses by your immune system) are: pollen, dust, molds of all types, some foods, and medicines.

Allergies result from an incorrect response by the immune system, when it attacks things that are not actually pathogens/invaders of the body.

Allergies are actually caused by our immune system. When we have an allergic reaction, it is because the substance confuses our immune system so that it over reacts to try to get rid of the foreign substance (pollen, pollutants, etc.) by creating excess fluids to wash away the antigen. Allergies sometimes cause other reactions that may even attack our tissues by mistake, instead of protecting us.

There is no real set pattern to what humans will have allergies to, but we can only be allergic to things we have been exposed to, and the longer we are exposed to something, the more likely we are to develop an allergy to it.
You can develop allergies that you didn't have before, but you can't catch them from someone else.

Should you be around buckeyes if you are allergic to peanuts and other nuts?

No, because a buckeye is considered a nut.

However, you may need to know that peanuts are NOT nuts and that buckeye (chestnuts) are seeds and not botanically nuts, if that makes a difference.
