This is the best I can do at this time.
With the right training and socialization at the early stages of his/her life, any pup will grow up to be the perfect dog. You would need to train your GSP to become a guard dog.
GSPs are powerful with very strong legs which makes a an amazing chaser/runner. They are intelligent, cooperative, affectionate and easily trained. They would make perfect working dogsand a perfect watchdog !
And whether your GSP pup and your maltese will get along is a hard question to answer (it really would depend on the way both dogs behave and what there personalitys are ! ) but they love interaction with humans ! The breed generaly get along with other dogs but sometime the females appear to have a much dominant personality when interacting with other dogs.
If you have any other pets at home then the GSPs natural hunting instince isnt going to make the pet cats life easy ! BUT with the right training the family dog will be able to know what is prey and what isnt and they can work well with other pets in the house :))

Which color is not recognized for a Labrador Retriever by the AKC?
Generally, any coat colour that is not black, yellow or chocolate are not accepted by the AKC and will be disqualified in shows.
The AKC has now approved silver to be a shade of chocolate, but many still believe this occurrence to be due to an introduction of a Weimaraner somewhere along the line. Many breeders will promote 'white' or 'fox red' labradors, but these are merely light and dark variations on the yellow color and are not considered rare.

What stand does AKC take on puppy mills?
From www.akc.org --
"The American Kennel Club believes that breeding programs should be undertaken responsibly for the purpose of preserving breed characteristics and producing healthy, well-socialized puppies. Responsible breeders are expected to give careful consideration to health issues, temperament, and genetic screening, as well as to the individual care and placement of puppies in responsible homes. AKC supports and promotes these and other responsible breeding practices through breeders' education programs, and commends those who offer similar guidance.
"The AKC strongly opposes the breeding of dogs by those who do so without regard for the dogs' welfare. We support scrupulous enforcement of the federal Animal Welfare Act, and state and local regulations governing the humane care of animals. We further believe that USDA and other enforcement agencies should be given appropriate resources to ensure that regulations are met.
"In addition, the AKC Investigations and Inspections department conducts more than 4,000 kennel inspections each year. When AKC inspectors find kennels that do not meet our minimum care and conditions requirements, they educate and encourage those breeders to raise their standards or face suspension of their AKC registration privileges. Proper authorities are also alerted to any cases of animal neglect."
