What did the Navajo Hopi Anasazi do that is unusual?
The Navajo and Hopi are modern people who both live in the American Southwest but are very different in many ways. They speak completely unrelated languages for example. We don't know what the Anasazi spoke. Probably several languages in different families. The Navajo have borrowed some ideas from the Hopi. The ancient Hopi lived at the same time as the now gone Anasazi, shared many cultural traits and probably some of the Hopi clans are descended from Anasazi groups. Some Navajo clans are probably from Anasazi groups too.
As a whole it is very hard to say what they did and do that is "unusual". That depends on what you think is usual.
What allowed the Anasazi to farm in the desert?
They settled along and above small streams. The rain in this part of the country runs off bare rock, often Navajo Sandstone formation, and collects in narrow canyons. Most of the Anasazi homes are along the sides of such canyons. Many are year round. We believe that excessive logging in some places caused down-cutting of the canyons and lowered the water table thus making farming in these area less viable. Also it appears the patterns of when and how much rain fell changed. Presumably some Anasazi farmed like their descendants the Hopi do today. They farm in run off areas and often use sand as a kind of mulch. The variety of corn they grow is lower and bushier and grows up from deep planting in the damp sand. Other Anasazi may have farmed like their other descendants the Eastern Pueblo people, who use irrigation. The Hohokam people to the south large scale irrigation and we know they traded with and visited them. The Navajo farm in some of these same Anasazi areas to this day, so we know it is very viable.

Did the Anasazi tribe travel by mule?
No, there were no horses, donkeys, or mules in the Americas when the Anasazi existed as a group (named by the Navajo who were new arrivals and at war with them), The Anasazi abandoned their large cliff dwelling due to climate shift, and it is believed their modern descendants are the Hopi and other Pueblo tribes still living in the area. They never referred to themselves as "Anasazi"!
What roles or jobs were assigned to me women and children in the Cherokee tribe?
"Jobs" or "Roles" in the tribe were not assigned (per se). If a man was adept at herbs then he naturally became a healer, if another was good with a bow then he became a hunter. The culture and religion set out a balanced stance to all things, and this means the necessities of life as well. It was normal for men to hunt, fish and make war while women were the home makers; this was not by strict assignment though and men often helped with home chores and women with hunting (although not common). Children were raised by the grand-parents (modern term), while the man and woman was busy with life the old ones made perfect teachers for the children as they knew more and were unable to do harder work. (as an example of a balanced life)
