Why do males abuse animals more than females?

Because animals are defenseless and very literally do not have a voice to alert anyone of authority. Its the same as abusing a child. They kind of depend and look up to the abuser as their caretaker, food source, shelter source and "love." Its a lot harder for animals (and children alike) to escape such a life.

Is Eight Belles dead?

Yes Eight Belles was euthanized on the track after breaking both front ankles in the 134th Kentucky Derby. Although, she did break her ankles in the beginning of the race, running on them throughout the race. It wasn't until after the race (she came in second), and when her jockey had just dismounted, that she collapsed.

Dr. Larry Bramlage, the Derby's on-call veterinarian, said the filly's injuries were too severe to even attempt to move her off the track.

"She didn't have a front leg to stand on to be splinted and hauled off in the ambulance, so she was euthanized," Bramlage said.

What is the difference between animal rights and animal welfare?

"Animal welfare" is about general health conditions based upon experience and expectations. "Animal rights" is a politically energized concept based upon an aggenda for acquiring power. Please see discussion area Most animal welfarists argue that the animal rights view goes too far, and do not advocate the elimination of all animal use or companionship. They may believe that humans have a moral responsibility not to cause cruelty (unnecessary suffering) to animals. Animal rights advocates, such as Gary L. Francione and Tom Regan, argue that the animal welfare position (advocating for the betterment of the condition of animals, but without abolishing animal use: see veganism) is logically inconsistent and ethically unacceptable. However, there are some animal rights groups, such as PETA, which support animal welfare measures in the short term to alleviate animal suffering until all animal use is ended

What are the types of animal abuse?

"What are the major types of animal abuse?" you say. Animal abuse is when you torture or hurt the animal in any way. Some types of animal abuse is... (this is only some of many thousands) 1) Putting your animal in a running washing machine 2) Hitting the animal with stones 3) Putting the animal in the fridge and attempting to freeze it to death 4) If you have a horse, one way of abuse is forcing on an overcoat in summer 5) Deliberately letting your animal fight another whom is bigger Animal abuse, so much like child abuse, don't you think? Why do I know so much about this? Beacase nowadays, people are abusing and hitting animals for fun pleasure and entertainment. And now I say to you now: DO NOT BE ONE OF THEM!!!Hurting animals in that way is cruel and brutal. I also advise you to never ever blow on your dogs ear or leave a bulldog tied up in summer. Bulldogs can die of high temperatures and blowing on your dogs ear could effect its hearing and could even lead to deafness. Animals are just as equal as us, they don't deserve abuse! After all, aren't we animals too? And so I leave you today with something to think about. Just remember do not be one of those horrible people! Well, there 3 diffrent types of animal abusers. 1. The kind that does it for fun like kicking or hitting the animal for no reason. 2. The kind that just kind of blacks out and during the black out they abuse there animals. When they come back to consciousness they feel very bad for what they did but they never give up the pet and they keep blacking out and hurting the animal. 3. The kid who takes there anger out on the animal for example a boy gets in trouble by his parents and he can't go hit his parents so he hits the animal. Now the mager types of abuse are throwing bricks at the animal, shooting them with a gun, not taking proper care of the animal, starving the animal, and setting them on fire. I thought I'd through a couple mor facts about animal abuse in there for you incase you were intrested. Hope this helped!

How many legs does a black widow spider have?

Why is animal abuse against the law?

The same reason murder is against the law. Animals should be treated with respect. When someone hits/burns them with something it still hurts just as bad as if it was done to us. There is no reason to hurt/abuse an animal on purpose just because you want to, or you think they are just animals so it's okay. Please don't think I'm being rude. I'm just saying what i think..

How is animal testing good?

NO, animal testing is cruel and almost useless. It really irks me when people say we need animal testing. There's a more humane way of testing then what they do now. Here's a few facts!

Animals used in testing are most usually purchased from specialized breeding facilities. However, they may also be taken from the wild or acquired from animal shelters (through a practice known as pound seizure.

Because mice and rats are excluded from the Animal Welfare Act (AWA), the actual number of animals used in product testing is unreported and unknown. It has been estimated that as many as 100 million mice are used in U.S. laboratories every year

There can be an end to it but it requires us to stand up and stop listening to those who are standing up FOR medical testing on animals. Read up!

The Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Validation of Alternative Methods (ICCVAM) is not doing its job. In its 10 years of existence, ICCVAM has approved only one non-animal test method that originated in the U.S. This is not because there are no non-animal test methods. ICCVAM's European counterpart has approved more than 20 non-animal test methods. A recent landmark report by the National Academy of Sciences, our government's chief advisory body on science issues, entitled "Toxicity Testing in the 21st Century" called for the use of more efficient non-animal test methods for testing dangerous substances: "Recent advances in systems biology, testing in cells and tissues, and related scientific fields offer the potential to fundamentally change the way chemicals are tested for risks they may pose to humans. The new approach would generate more-relevant data to evaluate risks people face, expand the number of chemicals that could be scrutinized, and reduce the time, money, and animals involved in testing."

Only WE can bring about this change guys, only WE can MAKE A DIFFERENCE but we have to join together

Does it hurt the animal when tested on?

Sometimes. depends on what companies. Testing medicial shots on animals would only hurt as much as a needle would hurt on us. because well, Its a needle

Yes, all animals that are tested upon have a central nervous system and in most if not all tests that are done, there is no anesthetic used as it would compromise the results of the tests. Most of the animals being tested on are monkeys, baboons, rats, mice, and rabbits. Pets such as dogs, cats, and hamsters are also used. They acquire domesticated animals through places like Marshall Farms, which breeds beagles and ferrets for pets AND lab animals. Some pounds sell strays to Laboratories.

There have been tests of sensory deprivation where the animal does not have contact with anyone or anything more than a pair of hands through a slit to feed and water the animal. The animals that are part of lab testing are routinely cut open, poisoned, and forced to live in barren steel cages for years.

yes they are because people use stuff on them to test products which may cause sickness, infections or death

rabbits, dogs, cats, mice, rats and many more animals get tested. They do get hurt because if the testing doesn't go right they kill the animal and its very sad.

_______________________________________________________________________

awild1 adds: yes and if you don't use those products that test or are made of animal parts or on animals period must die that are tested on!

Yes it does. If they need to be tested on instead of humans, then it must be pretty bad.

Should animals be used to test human products?

Although it is cruel, I got to say yes. Right know there is ONLY 2 ways to test new products. It is by Vito (animal) or by Vitro (test tube). You may say we got todo Vitro it would not be as effective. Also if you really think about it if we test it on us we would get decease's and we would die. Then the animals wouldn't survive because they have no food, water, and shelter.

Are Chinchillas farmed for their fur?

They are first kept in small wire cages which they should not be kept in (I own 2 chinchillas) they are then grabbed by there tails and there necks are broken but they are still alive screaming and squirming around in pain they are thrown on the ground by people who just don't care about them. There are videos on youtube that you can watch. Im sure there are other ways of doing it but I saw this done its very sad especially for the people who own them and know how affectionate they are they are very loving pets.

Who founded animal rights?

Well a very famous one is Cass Sunstein, who the Obama administration have nominated as head of a whole host of regulatory bodies that would have powers to oversee the treatment of animals improved. That's a very topical example, but it's well known about mainly because of the supposed extremity of his views (such as that an animal theoretically should be entitled to legal representation and have the ability to sue in court).

What are the pros of animal rights?

The pros of animal rights are that humans will generate empathy towards animals, which should (according to psychological theories) allow humans to become more empathetic towards each other. Other pros include: Animals will not be exploited for food production, and have to endure pain and suffering on factory farms (or all farms, for that matter). Animals will not endure torturous tests in the laboratory. -This will lead to newer testing methods of products using newer technology, which will create safer products in our homes and in our hospitals. Animals will not be raised and abused for fur or leather. Animals will not be forced to live their lives for the sole purpose of entertainment, and be forced to perform daily with little or no actual care.

When did anti cruelty laws for animals start?

Rights can't be created, however they can be understood. As people have become wealthier and better educated they have found more time to consider the well-being of first the people around them and finally the animals and habitats.

Does Proctor and Gamble test on animals?

Yes, they DO test on animals. It is NOT necessary to test medications on animals before they are ready for human consumption as many of the physical attributes (etc.) of animals are different than that of humans. However, many companies still insist upon putting animals in excruciating pain although there are other options to test a product that do not involve helpless animals.
