I was Actually hoping to get an answer, but I'll chance answering it, 'street art' is sometimes referred to as post-graffiti to separate it from, the usual territorial 'tagging', the first street artist I can think of is Blek le Rat working in France in the 70's.

There are numerous periods and movements throughout art history. The Gothic and Renaissance are well known periods, as is Impressionism and Cubism. The word popular describes something that is current and liked by a majority of people. Perhaps what the collectors are currently buying could be said to be popular.

It may depict details not in chronological order. It may omit details.

It may employ artistic license, changing some details.

It may provide only a momentary snapshot.

It may be trying to bend your feelings in a certain direction, through the way in which it's portrayed (though that holds true for written histories as well).

The Greek art was a foundation for western art, but the Middle Ages art was fairly primitive. Tempra was used in the Middle Ages and since it was done with egg yolks it looks greenish today. There is no perspective in this art and is all of religious themes. It isn’t until the Renaissance that perspective comes into play in art. Da Vinci used the first use of perspective in his Last Supper painting.

Ubirr is a rock formation within the East Alligator region of Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory of Australia, and is known for its rock art. It consists of a group of rock outcrops on the edge of the Nadab floodplain where there are several natural shelters that have a collection of Aboriginal rock paintings, some of which are many thousands of years old. The art depicts certain creation ancestors as well as animals from the area such as barramundi, catfish, mullet, goannas, long-necked turtles, pig-nosed turtles, rock ringtail possums, and wallabies.

From the top of Ubirr rock there is a panoramic view of the floodplains and escarpments.

Ubirr is approximately 40 km from Jabiru along a sealed road. The road is low-lying, so access can be restricted during periods of heavy rain. A short walk from the car park takes visitors past the main art sites to the foot of Ubirr Rock.

Many factors determine the value of a work of art. Auction prices can be a gauge, but the art market is always changing. Consequently, it is not possible to assess the value of a work of art until it is up for sale or auction. Many private sales of art occur and rarely is the price disclosed. The best option is to have the piece appraised. If the work of art is a reproduction or a print it is likely there is no monetary value.
