The question is how did oil get in the fuel tank? If there was very little oil put in the tank as in less than a couple of quarts then just fill the tank full and drive the car. The oil will be burned with the fuel and will do no harm. If there was more than a couple of quarts, you can siphon it out with a hand pump. You can get enough out to then fill the tank and drive the rest out.

for the most part rpm is counting from alternator (generator) there should be two wires one for rpm second for waking alternator

hope this helps i have a 97 and replaced the water pump all i had to do was remove the alternator and loosen the power steering bracket and the water pump slides out from between the engine and bracket. just done this job on 1998 1.8 turbo. the bolts holding the alternator and power steering brackets pass through the water pump and hold it to the block! mark witch bolt for each hole, they are different lengths. change the thermostat while its off the car..

Try disconnecting battery for about 10 mins. If this does not work have vehicle scanned and if no problems, codes can be cleared. Most auto parts stores will do this

Turn the key to the II position (but not to III, or START)

Turn the key to the 0 (OFF) position, then push -- and hold -- the odometer reset button

Turn the key back to the II position, while still holding the button

After about 10-15 seconds, the light should go off

remove the plastic covering the battery. you will also need to remove the rubber seal. dont worry its easy to reattach. then on the passenger side beside the battery, you should see a black plastic box with a tube coming from the battery. remove the tube from the battery-it just pulls out and push in the levers in the box. the lid should open and you should now see your old pollen filter. its a good idea to hoover the inside when the filter has been removed and apply some wd40 to the centre of the fan beneath the filter. remember to reattach the tube on the battery when putting lid back on.......hope this helps.
