What age does a baby outgrow newborn reflexes?

Newborn reflexes start to disappear as soon as they are no longer needed; while all babies are born with the same survival reflexes - their responses to the stimulation is very individual to his or her inborn temperament.

Morrow reflex: Anyone watching a newborn has seen this reflex in action, a loud noise or rough handling causes baby to startle, arching his back and throwing his arms and legs straight and crying out. Then he will pull in his arms and legs against his body. Most babies are further upset by their own response. Placing your hand gently against the baby's chest and tummy will help to soothe him, as will holding him against your body. A sensitive baby who startles frequently maybe more secure when swaddled. This reflex disappears by three months.

The Rooting reflex: when baby's cheek or lips are touched he will turn towards the source of the stimulation - mouth open and tongue out, seeking nourishment. When milk touches his mouth, he reflexively sucks and swallows. As his eyesight improves and he learns what objects (bottle, breast, cup etc) are bringing him nourishment look like, rooting disappears and is replaced with a smile, when you are responding to his needs.

Grasping reflex: Touching baby's palm will make his fingers wrap around the object and hold on tightly. This will fade between two and three months - allowing baby to grasp objects voluntarily.

Righting reflex: With baby lying on his back, allow him to grasp your thumbs in each hand while you hold on to his hands, gently pull him into the sitting position and watch as he tries to hold his head up right. With his head accounting for a third or more of his body weight his neck muscles can't yet support the weight, but he'll give it a good try.

Tonic neck reflex: When lying on his back baby's head will turn to the side, the arm on that side will straighten while the other flexes, allowing baby to find his hand. The out stretched arm prevents baby from rolling over until this reflex disappears.

Babinski reflex: This reflex is the opposite of a normal adult, gently touching the bottom of baby's foot causes his toes to curl downward, while touching the side of his foot causes his toes to spread and the big toe to extend upward. On an adult the big toe turns downward.

Stepping reflex. Hold baby in the standing position with one foot at a time touching the surface beneath him. This will cause him to take "steps" This reflex disappears but will return later, allowing him to learn to walk.

Lifting the head: Laying baby on his tummy on a firm, flat surface will reflexively cause his head to lift up, many babies will even move their limbs in a swimming or crawling motion.

What are the causes of not having a baby?

because ur period ain't working.... keep trying

Answer:

There are all kinds of reasons. So many reasons that a non-medical person, and in the absence of an actual checkup, cannot guess the reason.

But there are a few points. One, if you've been trying for less than 2-3 years, there's still nothing to be concerned about. 2-3 years is very common as the time for an initial conception.

Two, be sure that your general health and diet are as good as possible. That makes successful conception more likely.

Three, during your ovulating day/days, try to remain as stress-free as possible. Also, the conception-attempt itself should be unhurried and relaxed ("romantic").

Four, the husband should also maintain good health and diet; perhaps it's not you but rather his low sperm-count to be concerned about.

Five, if over 2 years pass, both spouses should get a checkup, since so many complex factors (not listed above) may be involved.

What is the term for turning the baby in utero so that the head is delivered first?

"Cephalic Version" is the process of turning the baby in utero so that a breech birth is prevented.

External Cephalic version is a procedure wherein the fetus is manipulated externally to turn it. It has a success rate of between 40 and 70%. ECV should be delayed as long as possible, since most breech birthing positions will right themselves before birth, and ECV is usually best performed at term, as earlier attempts do not usually influence birthing position.

Internal Cephalic version is a procedure where hands are placed inside the uterus through the vagina to attempt to turn the baby internally.

Can SIDS occur while baby is held by parent?

Back in 1959, Doctors didn't know much about SIDS. What we know now is that SIDS is not survivable. You most likely had an apnea event, you stopped breathing and started breathing again. There is no way to revive a SIDS baby. You were lucky but there is no such thing as a SIDS survivor, unless you are referring to a parent who has survived the loss of their baby.

No, babies do not survive SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).

They cannot survive or it wouldn't be sudden infant death.

_______________________________

I disagree. I am a SIDS survivor. When I was 2 months old, my 9 yo brother was watching me while my mom cooked dinner. He yelled, mom, mom, she's turning blue! My mom came, picked me up, patted me on the back and I started breathing again. She went back to cooking and again my brother yelled, mom, mom, she's turning blue. She took me to the hospital, where they said I survived crib death, now called SIDS. This was in 1959.

Many children have survived turning blue for reasons that were not explained, or explainable, at the time. By definition, sudden infant death syndrome is how we explain actual deaths after we rule out all known causes. As we get smarter, the category gets smaller, since we can explain a lot more of the causes of babies turning blue than we could when you and I were young. This will keep happening, and someday, with any luck, we'll find out what's killing the others and learn to treat it, too. Glad you're still around, though!

I also disagree. I have survived SIDS. Ten minutes after i was born, in 1993, i died in my aunties arms, and i do not know how they revived me. But i do know that i was to lay at an angle where my head was almost facing the floor and my feet were to the ceiling, for 14 months. I didn't turn blue or anything, i just died. I do not have any medical problems that i know of, so far. And i hope i never will.

I HAVE A CHILD THAT SURVIVED SIDS SHE IS NOW 15,, SHE SUFFERED A BRAIN INJURY FROM THE ORDEAL,, AND WAS IN VERY CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER IT HAPPENED FOR THREE MONTHS,, BUT SHE IS AN AMAZING KID,,

Hi, it is possible to survive sids. One of my friends have and he is living very well!

Why do babies come out crying?

It means the baby has a dirty diaper, is hungry, is cold, or wants attention/companionship.

Why do you use baby lotion on your babies?

you should use lotion because your skin is the largest organ on your body so you need to take care of it. Using lotion will help keep your skin moist and healthy looking, but most importantly keep it from shedding as often. Your skin naturally sheds itself and dry itchy skin does this faster. Think of when you are really thirsty and need a big glass of water. that is how skin feels when it is dry, it needs lotion. Lotion also helps to stay younger looking and prevent wrinkles on the skin.

How old is a babies before it can crawl?

Is the radiation from laptop harmful for babies?

It will depend on your personal beliefs. The scientific evidence is mixed.

Some scientific evidence indicates that the levels of radiation measured as emissions from a laptop computer are in frequency ranges and emitted power levels that are entirely harmless. To be harmful, the power levels must be high enough to break molecular bonds - this is 'ionising' radiation. Higher frequencies are also better at breaking bonds. Laptops don't emit ionising radiation.

A good example of harmful ionising radiation is ordinary sunlight. Putting your baby in midday sunlight for a few minutes is far more harmful than months of exposure to the radiation of a laptop computer. Always use a Factor 40 or better sun block cream on babies.

Other scientific evidence has shown that low-level radiation can impact cell growth, DNA replication, and the absorption of amino acids. This can lead to developmental genetic effects - though there is currently limited and conflicting epidemiological studies on the topic.

There are groups who take an alternative metaphysical position (outside of physical evidence) and who believe that all and any electromagnetic radiation is harmful. Such people will not use computers, cellphones or vehicles with spark ignition and will also avoid living near powerlines, radio transmitter antennae and radar installations at airports and harbours.
