Work on getting rid of the pain. Take as deep a breath and as many as you can through the pain. If pain can be alleviated through warm baths, soak in a bath. All of this while seeking professional medical help if condition is serious and not just a temporary muscle ache from over-use, for example.

I have severe upper back pain within 1 hour of eating. I have recently quickly lost 33 pounds from a bad flare up of Crohn's. Ultrasound to check for gallstones came back clear. What is the back pain?

It is possible the back pain is from a partial obstruction at the site of the flare-up of your Crohn's. A build up of gas in the bowel behind the obstruction can cause severe pain up and around the shoulders. Another possible answer could be a reaction to medication, if you just recently had a flare up of Crohns and were treated with any new medication that you take with your meals it could be a reaction to that medication. Make sure your doctor is aware of this pain. Try eating small amounts to see if the severity of the pain is consistent with amount eaten. Always report odd or unusual new symptoms to your doctor.

You have 4 bulging disc in cervical spine and very little pinching in one also have weakness and tingling in right hand your question is can a bulging disc cause severe neck pain that rarely goes awa?

I have herniated disc from C2-3 TO C6-7 LEVELS,this causes continuous neck pain for me along with radiation of pain/weakness to my upper right arm and first to fingers and also base of my thumb. With passage of time it has led to formation of osteophytes in the cervical region which would eventually lead to cervical spondylosis, this is despite regular spinal exercises. i understand ,traction is the best bet along with yoga. I am commencing my follow up now on these lines.

Why are you having aweful lower back pains the period after a miscarriage?

If I am reading your question correctly, you have completed your miscarriage and having your first period post-miscarriage?

If this is what you're saying, then the lower back pain you're experiencing could be explained by a few things. If you've recently gone back on birth-control the hormone shift can cause you to have a more intense period than normal, but this should go away after about 3 cycles. If you're not on birth-control the back pain could be associated with your hormone levels which, depending on how long ago the miscarriage was, may not have returned to normal levels just yet. Its possible that the back pain is entirely unrelated to your period or simply that being pregnant (whether carried to term or not) can cause permanent changes in your body. Most women report that their periods are easier after being pregnant but some do experience a marked increase in the discomfort associated with their menstrual cycle. But as always, seek medical help if you feel this is a serious issue, and perhaps your doctor could shed more light on the subject.

Good luck and I am sorry for your loss. I too have had a miscarriage and I know the pain of losing a child (even one you didn't know you were pregnant with in the first place).

I had rods put into my lower spine about a year ago but still have severe pain and cramping in my lower back and legs?

You should have it looked at by another surgeon - in my own case (3 rods, 8 screws) I didn't find out until 7 years later (with another surgeon) that my first 2 spinal operations weren't done correctly. The rods/screws were misaligned, causing severe enough pain that I was a high dose opiate patient for many years.

Look at your post-op films/CT scans - the screws should be aligned with each other; if they're crooked, they're inserted wrong. Also, you could have a screw misplaced as well; in my case, 2 screws were found to have been placed in too far, into leg nerves (one on each leg) which is where my pain came from.

Don't buy the "failed fusion" BS argument - there is always going to be some pain after a major fusion, but if you're having severe pain and cramping, something's likely wrong with the hardware.

What does back labor feel like if you are having a lot of low dull back pain with vaginal or pelvic pressure been very moody and want to know if you are in labor?

If you are in labor and receiving dull back pain the pain will progressively get worse to the point where it will feel like you are being stabbed from the behind. good luck

Dull back pain is very common in late pregnancy. Pelvic pressure is also common the last few weeks. AND these things make us very moody. Back labor will feel like a muscle cramp in your back. It will get more and more uncomfortable. You will also probably have some sort of discharge that is streaked with black/brown/red blood.

One very helpful thing your partner can do for you to help relieve the pain is stand behind you, wrap their arms around you & under your belly, interlacing their fingers together.....then very gently & slowly rasie your belly as high as is comfortable for you & hold this for as long as they are able, then when they are going to release you, they need to do it very slowly & carefully do not just let go!!! This should give you some much needed relief & can be safely repeated as often as you like. Trezix is a new drug. Can you snort trezix?

I just snorted 1 Acetaminophen/Caffiene/Dihydrocodeine capsule (Trezix), and it actually does work quite well, compared to orally taking the drug. The peak is at about 3-5minutes after the initial dose, and the high lasts for about 20-30 minutes. I wouldn't recommend snorting more than one, because that is way too much powder to be insufflated, but if you take one orally, and snort one, you will get a nice short buzz.

Does an abscessed tooth affect your breathing at all or cause back pains of any kind?

Abscesses of the teeth occur because the tooth has become non vital, ie it has died from either a traumatic accident or decay or a leaky filling with decay underneath. This causes dead material in the tooth to leak out throught the apical foramen (the point of the tooth that sits in the bone and is where the blood vessels and nerves of the pulp enter and leave the tooth). This causes inflammation within the boney socket that holds the tooth and leads to a collection of pus. This pus collects in the socket and causes formation of an abscess. If the infected material is not removed, it has to spread somewhere so it moves along the easiest path it can find. In some cases it moves along the tissue layers of the face amd into the space below the chin and jaw. This is known as cellulitis. When the infection spreads into the floor of the mouth compromising the airway and this can lead to trouble breathing and is a serious life threatening risk. As for back pain I dont know but you need to get this checked out ASAP.

How do you treat chronic back pain from T4-T12 plus you have a degenerative disc from L5-S1 at age 14?

Really, the only thing for thoracic problems like this is physical therapy... Surgery is never done on the thoracic area unless the problem is the result of trauma. I would certainly want this young man to be worked up for this condition... Blood tests, probably evaluation by a Rheumatologist. Sorry... missed the L5-S1 portion... Just what is the weight of this young person?!?! Exercise [with appropriate weight loss if applicable] also applies here...

Shoulder and neck pain in teachers?

Yes I don't doubt it. They write on the board and read from textbooks or look down at desks from a standing position all day long. They carry around bags full of papers and teaching materials slung over one shoulder. They sit in odd positions at oddly designed workstations crammed into corners. They are under constant stress and the accompanying muscular tension. Their schools don't have much of a budget for occupational therapy or ergonomics. They need to do some research in order to learn and use better ergonomics and have their muscles massaged frequently by a professional or a loved one. They are in the same boat as nurses. It's a tough job with certain occupational hazards. Therefore injuries and problems need to be consistently documented.
