Is severe rolling lower back pain a sign of labor?

It is for me! With both of mine I had no "front" contractions only back ones. It started as a low dull backache and quickly turned into feeling like something was trying to break out from back there.

Can a herniated disc on the cervical c7 cause lower back pain?

Mine does but I think it's because I sit and stand differently to keep my neck from hurting. That is exactly what you would expect. Ss C7 is the lowest space in the neck you would expect the pain to be there but it is often in the lower back.

I feel Lower back pain and continue to feel like i need to pee?

It may have something to do with your kidneys. They are located near your lower back and involved in urinary production.

Lower back pain while urinating could be a symptom of a problem particular to the kidneys. See a doctor immediately. It can be something easily taken care of, however if you wait it could turn out to be something much more difficult to cure. Early detection is critical. Most physical problems can be dealt with easily when immediately tended to.

The fact that you have increased pain when you sneeze or cough may indicate that you have a herniated disc. You would need to go to the doctor and they would do an assesment and order and MRI of you back. There are many conservitive treatments for this that work very well and most doctor will do these before considering surgery.

Can you have lower back pain from pneumonia?

Yes. I had back discomfort/pain for a couple of months and dismissed it to a pulled muscle. I went to my doctor and he prescribed muscle relaxer. After another two months I started having fever, chills, aches-went to clinic and doctor there took x-rays and determined I had pneumonia. He prescribed antibiotics and inhalers, felt great for a couple of months but started having same back discomfort again. Will be going back to doctor after holidays.

What does it mean when you get lower back pains and stomach cramps?

This usually means that ur muscles down in that area of your stomach are stretching as ur baby grows. It usually happens most in the first trimester and the intensity depends on how tight ur muscles were before hand. For me, being a dancer, they hurt pretty bad. If u have other symptoms such as bleeding you should see ur doc asap.

Can voltaren gel be used for lower back pain?

I am not a medical professional at all. I am simply a patient who was Rx'ed Voltaren for back pain. The pain covers a large area of my lower back and left side/hip area. Having been giving no counseling about Voltaren either by the Doctor or Pharmacist, I assumed it was like the many other mostly useless creams, balms and oils this Doctor is prone to calling "miracle cures". VOLTAREN IS NOT LIKE THOSE. I did NOT notice the fine print that stated there is a "dosage card" taped to the inside of the package. Only 4 grams, meant to cover a small area can be applied at once. It appears to be designed for smaller targets like knees, hands, feet. I spread a liberal amount on my chronically painful lower back. Within 5 minutes I felt dizzy and knew I was soon to pass out. I went for my chair and fell into a deep slumber. I'm starting to believe that I was lucky to awaken. VOLTAREN MUST BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY I plan to do some more research on Voltaren and back pain, but everything I've read so far suggests it is for joint pain. I happened to be seeing my Neuro the next day and brought it into him to look at. He also did not notice the important Dosing Card and blamed another med I've been taking for some time (though not that day) for my reaction. I'm a bit miffed that it was given for back pain and that neither the Doctor or Pharmacist counseled me about this medication and its apparent "off label" use. It says nothing on the Rx label about dosage. Yeah, if I had read several paragraphs into the info sheet I would have seen mention of the Dosage Card but we're not all perfect. When I mention to this Doctor that his other creams and gels don't work, he claims I'm simply not using enough. When I described my reaction to the prescribing Doctor, he just said use less. So I'm not perfect for not reading the insert in its entirety, but neither were 2 Doctors aware of the potential of overdose even when queried about it. Ask your Doctor about using Voltaren for back pain before trying it! R

Why would you have minor cramping and severe lower back pain when 4 weeks pregnant?

You should go to the ER or your doctor ASAP. Cramping in early pregnancy is very normal because everything is stretching out, but it shouldn't be bad cramps and with the severe lower back pain that could mean you are having a miscarriage. Please go to the ER or your doctor ASAP

What if you have headaches neck pain and aching around the ears are they signs of being pregnant?

I had headaches at first but not neck pain or ear pain, I guess it is different for everyone but I have never heard of those as signs. You could be pregnant with a cold, or it could be just a cold. If you are late a test should show correctly by now, if you aren't due for your period, then you have to wait until your period would be due. That sounds more like signs of being tense.

Do crutches cause back pain?

you should use crutches because it takes the pressure of your heel also if you keep putting pressure it will eventually break.

Do nose piercings cause paralysis?

Paralysis is caused when there is damage to the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) that prevents messages from being passed between the brain and the body.

A nose piercing can not cause paralysis because the neural messages responsible for movement are sent from the brain to the body through the spinal cord, not through the nose.

A nose piercing could cause infection if sterile procedures are not taken, but not paralysis.

What is disc protrusion with high intensity zone also causing mild foraminal encroachment at L4-L5?

It's from a radiology report - essentially it's saying that there's a mild disk bulge (not full herniation) at the L4/5 disk that's encroaching on the L4/5 foramina. The foramina is the part of the vertebrae between the spine and vertebrae where the nerves pass. They look like holes or notches behind the vertebrae.

It's not uncommon for a disk protrusion in the lower lumbar area to impinge on the foraminal nerves. Mild just indicates it's not enough of a problem to warrant anything other than non-surgical therapy (rest, anti-inflammatories, etc.). There's usually an underlying cause though - stenosis, injury, old age, weight, etc.

The best way to deal with it is to limit the amount of stress you put on your lumbar spine, and to change the way you sleep (assuming you haven't already). Never sleep on your back, unless you've got cushion under your knees that will flatten your lumbar spine against the mattress; if you sleep on your side, put a cushion between your knees that will keep your legs parallel (this reduces pressure on the hips and lower spine); and never sleep on your stomach. Putting a cushion or pillow behind you and for your arm to rest on (if sleeping on your side) will help keep you from rolling over. Even though I did it for years before my first fusion, I still do it today, and it still helps.

Do power balance bands really work on back pain and neck pain?

I am a total skeptic, but I received these bands as a gift and decided to try them on. I never believed the balancing trick, but what I did notice was that I wasn't sore after walking a round of golf. Usually my back and thighs would feel tight but that didn't happen. Whether its the technology or placebo, I'm happy whenever I can get up and go the next day. Hope this helps.

What can cause lower back pain when lying down?

Back pain is not always the body telling you about advancing age, as it maybe a sign that there is something wrong with your mattress. There are a number of causes of continuous back pain, and one of the most common is a poor quality mattress. If you have not experienced any sudden stress or muscle pull, but still find yourself experiencing back pain, it is time you take a closer look at the condition of your mattress. Sleeping on a bad mattress is bad news for your body, as it makes it hard to find a proper sleeping posture throughout the night. This leads to poor spinal alignment and muscle soreness, resulting in backache.

How many have back pains due to heavy backpacks?

Heavy, or improperly worn, backpacks are a very common cause of back pain in adolescents. A study published in the journal SPINE in 2003 (1) surveyed over 1100 kids aged between 12 and 18 years old and found almost 75% of them had back pain that was associated with backpack use.

Similarly, a study published in 2006 in the journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics (2) found that the weights of students' backpacks seemed directly proportional to the likelihood of back pain.

What if your periods 3 weeks late and now your spotting and back pain and lower abdomen pain?

Have your periods been regular in the past? If so, did you take a pregnancy test? A late period with spotting can indicate signs of a miscarriage. A woman's luteal phase, time from ovulation to the first day of bleeding, is usually a set number of days from month to month. Conversely, the proliferative phase, which is the time from first day of menstrual bleeding to ovulation can vary. Thus, if you are three weeks late and have started spotting you may be miscarring. See your MD to have your beta HcG levels checked if you believe you could be pregnant.

What is right paracentral disc protrusion at T8-T9 and T7-T8?

This means that the spinal disc ("shock absorber" between the vertebrae) is protruding (bulging) on the left into the area where the peripheral spinal nerve leaves the spinal cord (neural foramen). If the disc compresses (impinges) the spinal nerve in the neural foramen, there can be symptoms that radiate into the extremities. If the nerve impingement is in the neck, then symptoms are usually felt in the shoulder blade area and arm. In the low back, the symptoms can be felt in the buttock and back of the thigh ("sciatica") and even the entire leg and foot.

What is Kemps test for low back pain?

Kemp's test is an orthopedic exam, depending on whether the patient is seated or standing, that is used to confirm either an intravertebral disc (IVD) lesion (eg. disc herniation), lumbar facet dysfunction/syndrome or it may present positive as a significant other finding of pain during an exam that produces local pain WITHOUT pain traveling anywhere distant from the area of complaint.

Seated the chiropractor would contact with their hand the area of low back pain and gently bend the patient backward, slightly bend and rotate them toward the same side that the chiropractor's hand is contacting on the low back. A positive finding would be an increase or recurrence of sharp, shooting pain traveling down the lower limb, potentially into the foot. This would confirm an IVD lesion (eg. herniation) causing pain into the lower limb.

Standing the same procedure would be performed EXCEPT rotation of the upper body would be toward the OPPOSITE side that the doctor is contacting. A positive finding would be local pain that is dull, boring achy which is indicative of lumbar facet dysfunction/syndrome.

What would cause upper back pain to the right side of shoulder?
