How do you repair a baseball glove that has been chewed by your dog?
You can use a hairdryer or set it on a windowsill. The window magnifies the sun's light and heat so it will dry it quick without using electricity. It will work even better if you have a wooden windowsill that is brown or black. They have a lower albedo, (reflection of heat). I personally suggest the windowsill because it is eco-friendly!

Why is the first base mans glove different?
The main objective of the first baseman is to catch the ball. A larger glove or mitt, would be an advantage. Infielders need to catch the ball and quickly transfer the baseball from glove to hand, to make a throw. A smaller glove has an advantage.
The infielder also needs to have a feel for the ball to help grab the ball or handle tough ground balls. The first baseman's glove or mitt has extra padding and leather to protect the hand from hard throws.

Why is a baseball bat a lever?
a baseball bat is a "lever" in the way that the ball comes off the bat. When the baseball makes contact with the bat, the bat gives, or bends. What causes the ball to then travel is when the bat snaps back into a straight object. Thus, the bat is, in a way, a lever.

How big can baseball bats get?
A baseball bat in Pro Baseball can be any size. But, it has to be -3. That means the weight of the bat has to be 3 below the width. (e.g. If the bat was 34 inches the weight would be 31 ounches)
It doesn't have to be minus three, if you are comfortable and strong enough, you can swing a bat that is minus 1 (ie: 35 inches in length, 34 oz, in weight) There are no regulations as far as length and weight, Tony Fernandez who used to play with the Blue Jays used a 35 inch bat, the only regulations are diameter of the hitting surface on the bat, and they are now researching new regulations into the Maple Bats because of their inclination to break into sharp shards of bat. (ie hitting with the face grain instead of the edge grain like with an ash bat, maximum grain slopes, handle thickness etc, ) but so far no new regulations yet, still a work in progress.
The Official MBL rules state it as such:
1.10
(a) The bat shall be a smooth, round stick not more than 23/4 inches in diameter at the thickest part and not more than 42 inches in length. The bat shall be one piece of solid wood.
NOTE: No laminated or experimental bats shall be used in a professional game (either championship season or exhibition games) until the manufacturer has secured approval from the Rules Committee of his design and methods of manufacture.
(b) Cupped Bats. An indentation in the end of the bat up to one inch in depth is permitted and may be no wider than two inches and no less than one inch in diameter. The indentation must be curved with no foreign substance added.
(c) The bat handle, for not more than 18 inches from its end, may be covered or treated with any material or substance to improve the grip. Any such material or substance, which extends past the 18 inch limitation, shall cause the bat to be removed from the game.
NOTE: If the umpire discovers that the bat does not conform to (c) above until a time during or after which the bat has been used in play, it shall not be grounds for declaring the batter out, or ejected from the game.
(d) No colored bat may be used in a professional game unless approved by the Rules Committee.

Can you use composite bats in high school baseball?
Most aluminum alloy and composite bat manufacturers recommend against using their bats in a batting cage if the cage uses the yellow dimpled pitching machine balls. If it uses regular balls then it isn't a huge problem. You will just be wasting some of the pop in the bat. It is best to buy a wood bat to use for batting practice. It keeps your game bat fresh and it teaches you to hit the ball on the sweet spot.

What is the difference between a softball mitt and a baseball mitt?
Construction is basically the same - softball gloves are just larger than baseball gloves due to fact that softballs are bigger. Softball gloves tend to be 13" and bigger, and baseball gloves are less than 13".
If you play both softball and baseball and want to stick with just one glove, then buy a softball glove.

Why are baseballs made of rubber?
Rubber helps Tennis Balls bounce better. If you get the kind of tennis balls with a very solid and not hollow rubber, it won't bounce. If it's hollow it will bounce way better. How could tennis balls not bounce without rubber? Tennis balls are made of rubber because it helps it bounce. This may sound silly, but how could a tennis ball bounce without being made of rubber? Tennis balls need rubber so that when they come into contact with the ground they do not burst or crack. It will dent slightly and go back to its original form. This is an advantage to a tennis ball being made out of rubber. so it can bounce.

What is better the exogrid bat or the H2 bat?
There really is no "better" bat. However many players feel strongly about both. Many players will tell you that stiff bats, like the Exogrid are the way to go. Some will tell you the flexible bats like the Stealth are better because they give you more of a whip or trampoline effect when you hit the ball. I sort of think that the stiff bats are probably a little bit better because I'd personally rather swing something stiff than flimsy. That's just me.
There are a couple of websites below where you can learn more. One goes really deep into the physics of stiff vs. flexible bats. The other one is my website of articles of bat technology.
