What are beads made out of?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The best kinds of beads to use when making jewelry can be answered on several different points. Creatively, use whatever you like.

Jewelry is an art form, it has been with us since the beginning of the human race, people have decorated themselves with beautiful and unique objects that represent something special to them.

What is the message you want to convey with the jewelry you make? Use what you decide would get the message across most effectively. From a design aspect, using what is traditionally appropriate for that design, ie., glass seed beads for native American beadwork, is a good place to start, and then incorporating something a little different that you think would look good in the design will give it originality.

From a marketing perspective, semiprecious and precious stone beads are most popular, for example chalcedony briolettes, amethyst, ruby, tourmaline faceted beads, etc. While they cost more than using glass, they also demand a higher retail price for the finished piece. If you are going to spend the time to make jewelry to sell, make quality jewelry using fine materials and you will make more profit in the long run.

How do you twist a beading necklace?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It depends on the pattern that you're doing, you can twist them yourself before adding the filigree cap, or if you are doing a seed bead necklace, then the twist is automatically in your pattern. Lots of patterns have illusion twists. The British Twyla Twist for example, you bead around in circles and because of your use of numbers and colours, it looks as if you are working it in twists. also Spiral staircase, you are just adding beads and the necklace looks as if it is twisting around.

The difference between large bead and small bead on the 1966 Canadian silver dollar?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The way to tell the difference is as follows:

The "beads" that are being referred to on this coin are the beads that circle the outside rim of the heads (obverse) side of the coin.

Small Beads Variety - On the right side of the queens face is the inscription D.G. Regina. If you take a close look at the periods after the "D" and the "G" of this inscription and compare their size to the size of the beads, the beads are noticeably smaller than the periods after the "D" and the "G".

Large Beads Variety - In this variety, the beads surrounding the rim are at least the same size or larger than the periods after the "D" and "G".

If you do have a small beads variety its extremely rare and is worth anywhere from $1,300 to $7,300 depending on the condition and strike of the coin.

How do you remove bead from a ear?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Pandora beads are on a screw-thread with a screw-thread on the end of the bracelet. To remove beads you "unscrew" the bead as though you were unscrewing a nut.

Be careful adding other brand beads to a Pandora bracelet. If you damage the bracelet or the threads it is not covered under Pandora's warranty.

What temp and how long do you bake FIMO clay?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 15 mins in a normal oven. Keep checking FIMO but don't let the heat out. I think the timing can slightly vary according to the size of the model. If you make a bead then it would take less time than a bowl or something. I hope this helps!
