Would the Founding Fathers think America is being run the right way?
Since we cannot actually think for the Founding Fathers, we can probably interpret what they would think through the majority of events. Considering the socioeconomical and political devastation in America, I'm pretty sure the Founding Fathers would dislike the current situation. America was founded on the basis of life, liberty, and freedom. Modern America is comprised of racial indifference, labels, and overall inequality. Quite a disgusting shift from the initial plan.
AnswerWhile I agree that modern America does have problems with the things listed above, I have to argue that the large majority of Americans have more freedom than at the time of the founding. When Jefferson spoke of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" he meant the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness for white, landed, 21 year old males. Throughout the history of the United States, our idea of who these ideals apply to. First, in the Jacksonian era, the common man was uplifted. Then, with the Civil War, the 13th-15th Amendments, and the Civil Rights movement, people fought for and eventually won their liberty. Meanwhile, women fought for their idependence and right to vote and finally gained it in the 1920s with the 19th Amendment. Now, 18 year olds, are able to participate in the government that many of them fight and die for. However, we aren't there yet. The 2nd paragraph of the Decleration of Independence tells us who we want to be, it is the goal. But it is and never has been a reality. I think that Langston Hughs says it best in his poem "Let America Be America Again" when he says "Let America be America again, the land that never has been yet."What did Benjamin Franklin say about bacteria?

Should the federal government privatize the us postal service?
"Even in these times where privatization of governmental service is a popular political concept, it would be very difficult for the federal government to entirely privatize the U.S. Postal Service because the delivery of mail by the government is provided for in the Constitution and under the Private Express Statutes" according to John J. Zodrow, an authority on Postal employment and labor relations. "It would literally take an Act of Congress or a Constitutional Amendment to alter these provisions."
According to the USPS at its website, the Private Express Statutes are a group of laws under which the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has the exclusive right, with certain limited exceptions to carry letters for compensation. The Statutes are based on the provision in the U.S. Constitution that empowers Congress "to establish Post Offices." Congress enacted the Statutes to protect the USPS and thereby enable it to fulfill its mission of providing mail service to all parts of the country at uniform rates (even in remote areas that otherwise would see not see affordable service by a private company). The Statutes enable the USPS to fulfill its responsibilities by preventing private courier services from competing selectively with the USPS on its most profitable routes, to the exclusion of expensive or not profitable areas, such as rural areas.
For the purpose of the Private Express Statutes, a letter is defined as a message directed to a specific person or address and recorded on a tangible object. A more complete definition can be found at title 39, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), 310.1. The Statutes provide that letters may be transported outside the U.S. Mail system only if one or more of the exceptions apply, or appropriate postage is paid. The basic prohibition is against private carriage of letters for other persons without payment of postage.
The law allows for the private carriage of letters under certain circumstances, including:
Letters for which sender has paid at least 6 times the price currently charged for the first ounce of a single-piece First-Class Mail letter.
Letters weighing at least 12-1/2 ounces.
Letters sent with and relating in all substantial respects to the cargo that they accompany.
Letters carried by the sender, recipient, or the regular, salaried employees (not independent contractors) of either party.
Letters carried without any financial or other valuable compensation.
25 or fewer letters carried by special messenger on an infrequent, irregular basis for the sender or addressee.
Letters carried prior or subsequent to mailing.
Properly marked letters whose value or usefulness would be lost or greatly diminished if Letters not delivered within certain time standards listed in postal regulations ("extremely urgent" letters).
Letters addressed to campus destinations that colleges and universities carry in their internal mail systems for their bona fide student or faculty organizations.
Letters carried from a point in the United States to a foreign country for deposit in the foreign country's domestic or international mails for delivery to an ultimate destination outside the United States.
Data processing materials sent between an office and a data processing center, within certain delivery time standards listed in postal regulations.
Certain international ocean carrier-related documents accompanying cargo.
Advertisements enclosed with merchandise in parcels or accompanying periodicals under certain conditions.
"Accordingly, some non-delivery services formerly performed in the past exclusively by the USPS or it's predecessor -- the Post Office Department -- are now performed privately. One example is the pre-sorting of bulk rate mail for a discount before it enters the Postal system. The transportation of mail also is performed largely by private carrier. As is the delivery of overnight and second day express packages by companies like Federal Express and the delivery of parcels by United Parcel Service. But the delivery of personal letter mail, and the operations directly necessary for the delivery of such mail, seems to be well-protected against privatization. This appears to include the collection and sorting of mail for delivery. Postal public sector employees unions are not going to concede their rights to this work, especially given such strong legal authority," according to John Zodrow, who authored the textbook Postal Service Labor Arbitrations.
More information regarding exceptions and suspensions to the Private Express Statutes is available in the federal regulations at 39 C.F.R. §§ 310.3 and 320.
Franklin's life experience has nothing to do with "man's later achievements." An individual does not affect a society unless they control great power. Franklin was never in that position and his upbringing was not a good one. His father took him out of school at 7 and put him as an apprentice to a candlemakers. He didn't allow Ben to read books, so he hid them from his father. In his early teens his father took him out of the candlemakers apprenticeship and placed him with his brother as an apprentice in his printing business. When his brother got arrested by the British for sedition Ben kept the business going until he got out of jail. When his brother returned he forced Ben to sign another 7 year contract for apprenticeship. At that time Franklin was 17 which meant he would be 24 when his apprenticeship to his brother was over, so Ben ran away. This made him a fugitive because it was against the law to leave an apprenticeship. Ben left Boston and found himself in Philadelphia where he lived the rest of his life. He couldn't find work so he left for London and had a somewhat successful business experience in London. Later, after the Boston Tea Party, the king will call Ben in front of him and dress him down as an American. When he left London to return home he left as a revolutionary swearing to overthrow the king. Franklin spent the rest of his life supporting the colonists fight against the British king. He was so avid about his support that he had his son arrested because he was a British officer and he supported a privateer ship to stop British ships with American POW's on them to free the men and take British sailors as prisoners. The Irish captain he hired to do this ransomed the British sailors and took booty from the ship. He wasn't suppose to do this, so Franklin quit supporting the ship.

What does the name Benjamin mean?
Benjamin, from the Old Testament (Genesis 46), is one of the original twelve tribes of Israel, named after the youngest of twelve sons of Jacob (Israel) and one of two sons of Rachel, the other being Joseph. "Ben" means "son" in Hebrew and denotes "son of" in Arabic, while Jamin happens to be mentioned as a son of Simeon, second-born of Israel, and may be a derivative of Jacob, but this is unknown by this author. Jamin may also connote a balm, fruit or spice to indicate a family industry or type of merchant, as was commonly done, but this is also unknown. The name Benjamin can interchangeably both literally and figuratively mean "Son of Jamin" or "Son of Jacob," "Son of Israel" or, more generally, "son of Israel," meaning a son of the nation of Israel, a son of the religion of Judaism or a son of Yahweh/Jehovah/God. The plural, "bene," would mean "sons of." Commonly, this author uses "Ben" in the context of "son-of-a-gun," often substituting more forceful words at the end, depending on need. In fact, "son-of-a-jamin" or "sons-of-a-jamin" might become popular (and quite accurate) expressions of profanity soon and, oddly, carry no malice, instead indicating lighthearted irreverence, though many a fellow with this name has disagreed; hearing their mothers hollar at them for some misdeed during their formative years, to them their name often sounds like extremely angry profanity when they hear "Ben-e-jamin!" from a distance. Rolls off the tongue quite well. Yits ya right in the gut, it does. It's been a curse word for centuries and nobody's known it except for those with the name!
1 of Benjamin Franklins witty sayings?
Ben Franklin wrote the "Poor Richard's Almanack" from 1733 to 1758 at least. In between the phases of the Moon, the times of sunrise and sunset, and planting advice for farmers, Franklin interspersed various pithy folk sayings that have become common in the 250 years since.
Some of them are common, like "A fool and his money are soon parted!" and "Fish and visitors stink after three days", while others are more obscure, such as "He's a Fool that makes his Doctor his Heir."
Here are a few of my own favorites:
Don't throw stones at your neighbours, if your own windows are glass.
Word to the Wise is enough.
God helps them that help themselves.
Early to Bed, and early to rise, makes a Man healthy, wealthy and wise.
The Eye of a Master will do more Work than both his Hands.

Beware of little expenses;a small Leak will sink a great Ship
A Child and a Fool imagine Twenty Shillings and Twenty Years can never be spent.
When the Well's dry, they know the Worth of Water.
God heals, and the Doctor takes the Fees.
Sin is not hurtful because it is forbidden but it is forbidden because it's hurtful. Nor is a Duty beneficial because it is commanded, but it is commanded, because it's beneficial.
