How old was Simeon when he saw Jesus in the temple?

The Bible does not explicitly say how old Jesus was at the time, but Luke 2:22 locates this event as happening "when the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses." A woman was ritually impure for 40 days after the birth of a son. Leviticus 12:2-4 says: "Say to the Israelites: 'A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period. On the eighth day the boy is to be circumcised. Then the woman must wait thirty-three days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over." Jesus was born in Bethlehem, just 6 miles from Jerusalem, so it was an easy day's walk to get to the Temple. So in all likelihood, Jesus wasn't much more than 40 days old when Simeon saw him in the Temple.

2Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

What prophecies are in the Book of Daniel?

The Book of Daniel is traditionally attributed to the prophet Daniel, writing during the sixth-century-BCE Babylonian Exile.

However, scholars no longer see the book as an eyewitness record, and place its authorship in the second century BCE. Based on its content, many commentators assume that the Book of Daniel was written sometime between 167 and 164 BCE. On these views, Daniel did not write any known book.

Where in Revelation does it say destroying the world with fire?

Peter details it more than Revelation does:

"...the Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with a fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up." (II Peter 3:10-)

The "Day of the Lord" is the prophesied time of the return of Jesus Christ to earth with the Government of God to rule over the nations for a thousand years [which is as "one day" with God - II Peter 3:8 -- the Day of the Lord].

Jesus speaks of a Lake of Fire He calls "Gehenna," [translated 'hell' in the KJV] which is a valley outside of Jerusalem where trash, refuse and sometimes the bodies of incorrigibly wicked men were burned in the past.

Prophecy indicates that this valley will be ignited upon Jesus' return and burn all during His thousand year rule. It will still be burning at its conclusion... when all the dead generations of man will resurrect to face the Great White Throne of Judgment Day [Rev.20:11-15].

According to the chronological Revelation account [chapter 20]... the earth is still not "burned up" when the Judgment begins.

So, Peter's description has to occur sometime between the Judgment... and the beginning of Revelation chapter 31:

"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea." (verse 1).

Peter speaks of the "new heaven and earth" as following the "melting of the elements."

"Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness." (II Peter 3:13)

Revelation, therefore, doesn't go into Peter's detail... but merely says:

"...death and hell were cast into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire." (Rev.20:14-15)

The Bible tells us that: "...The LAST ENEMY THAT SHALL BE DESTROYED IS DEATH." (I Cor.15:26)

Which is recorded, prophetically, at the end of Revelation 20... at the conclusion of "Judgment Day." It's evident, then, that the "burning of the heavens and earth" happens somewhere betweenchapters 20 and 21 of Revelation... and is not detailed at all in this book.

What does the number 149 mean biblically?

A:

It is hard to say the number 149 represents anything in the Bible at all. There are certainly two numbers in the Bible with mystical meaning - 7 (and its multiple 14) and 17. The number 12, corresponding to the number of constellations, is also an important biblical number. Multiples of the number 20, particularly 40, were used in stories about the legendary period, down to the reign of King Solomon, because they are easy to remember and this assisted the tradents who passed down the stories on which the books of the Old Testament were based.

We should not for a moment think that the biblical authors saw meaning in all numbers, but modern readers choose look for meanings when none exists. There are real instances where the biblical authors did use numerology and play with numbers in the Bible, but this is not one of them.

Will we know each other on the new earth?

Yes,people will inhabit the new earth.

Isaiah:65:7-25:

7: For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

18: But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.

19: And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.

20: There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.

21: And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.

22: They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.

23: They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.

24: And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

25: The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

What are Old Testament references on Jesus Christ's second coming?

There are many references, both in the Old Testament and the New Testament. These are only a representative sample:-

Jud 1:14-15 KJV And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, (v.15) To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

Joh 14:2-3 KJV In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (v.3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

1Co 15:50-58 KJV Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. (v.51) Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, (v.52) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. (v.53) For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. (v.54) So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. (v.55) O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? (v.56) The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. (v.57) But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (v.58) Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

1Th 4:13-18 KJV But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. (v.14) For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. (v.15) For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. (v.16) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (v.17) Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (v.18) Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Rev 1:7 Behold, He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen.

Rev 19:11-21 KJV And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. (v.12) His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. (v.13) And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. (v.14) And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. (v.15) And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (v.16) And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. (v.17) And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; (v.18) That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. (v.19) And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. (v.20) And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. (v.21) And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

Psa 98:9 KJV Before the LORD; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

Dan 7:13-14 KJV I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. (v.14) And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

Zec 14:5 KJV And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.

What are the ten countries in Revelation?

"...the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the Beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the Beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for He is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with Him are called, and chosen, and faithful." (Rev.17:12-14)

This is a prophecy within the time frame of the Great Tribulation when the Beast (men say, "Antichrist") will sit in authority on earth.

This is the time of the final resurrection of Daniel's "fourth Beast," the 'Holy' Roman Empire... the extent of which in its hey-day ruled from the Atlantic to the Ural Mountains (beyond Moscow). The final Beast will, therefore, be a "European" superpower conglomerate.

Presently, Europe is composed of many "nation-states" (way more than ten)... each with their own central governments... but, which, one by one in a failing global economy, are ceding their sovereignties to a growing central European governmental authority.

The prophecy, however, speaks of ten "kingdoms." They haven't ruled in Europe for centuries, yet... "blueblood" descendants of royalty are alive and well and living there, today.

It's anyone's conjecture as to how the present global economy will play out. But, if this prophecy is of any consequence... one scenario reveals the rise of the "Beast power," which the Bible says receives its power directly from Satan (the Dragon - Rev.12), who has always influenced powerful government leaders.

"... the Devil taketh Him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth Him ALL THE KINGDOMS OF THE WORLD... and saith unto Him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me." (Matt.4:8-9)

"...I... saw a Beast rise up out of the sea... and the Dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority." (Rev.13:1-2)

A rational assessment of the present global economic situation suggests that eventually... the global economy will collapse. If this prophecy is consulted under this eventuality... it may suggest the rise of the Beast under the duress of "global panic."

According to Bible prophecy, the worldview of the Beast will be a favorable one, perhaps seen as a "savior" of the world:

"...all the world wondered after the Beast. And they worshipped the Dragon which gave power unto the Beast: and they worshipped the Beast, saying, Who is like unto the Beast? WHO IS ABLE TO MAKE WAR WITH HIM?" (Rev.13:3-4)

Prophecy suggests the rise of Europe as a global superpower whose military exploits will have the tongues of nations wagging in praise and adoration.

This possible global economic collapse, however, could lend greatly to a "restructuring" of Europe's political system (and national borderlines)... especially with the rise of the Beast who could set up whatever and whomever he wills.

Dividing up Europe into "ten kingdoms" may fit into what he hopes to accomplish. The prophecy states that the ten kings "receive their power for one hour WITH THE BEAST." That's a "very short time."

It says that they are all "single-minded"... and that they give their "strength and power" to the Beast. That would be all of the resources the kingdoms possess - economic, natural, military. All of Europe will be at the Beast's disposal.

It says that they will be in power at the time that Jesus returns... and that they will focus all of their strength and power on resisting and fighting the returning Christ.

In any event... the ten kings (countries) "have received no kingdom as yet." Not until the Beast (men say, "Antichrist") is revealed and rises to power in a revitalized Europe.

And, according to the prophecy... when the ten countries do come to power... their end will be at the hands of Jesus Christ.

"And I saw the Beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him that sat on the horse, and against His army. And the Beast was taken, and with him the False Prophet that wrough miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the Beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a Lake of Fire burning with brimstone. And the remnant were slain with the Sword of Him that sat upon the horse, which proceedeth out of His mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh." (Rev.19:19-21)

Is Jehovah really going to kill everyone?

Jehovah's Witnesses like anyone else are subject to violent crimes and accidents that will result in some of them losing their lives.

Jehovah's Witnesses have also been the suject of persecution, for example in Nazi Germany, where they have been killed because they refused to compromise their faith. These situations, although extreme, may arise again.
