What actions can a president take when he receives a bill?

When a bill is passed by Congress and is presented to the President, he/she has ten days, not counting Sundays, to act on it. There are three things a President can do with a bill:

  1. The President can sign the bill, making it a law.
  2. The President can return it to the House of Congress where it originated with his/her objections to it. That is called a veto.
  3. The President can do nothing. If the President fails to act on a bill within the ten days allowed and Congress is still in session at the end of the ten days, the bill automatically becomes a law, as if the President had signed it. If Congress is no longer in session at the end of the ten days, the bill does not become law. That is known as a pocket veto.

How much is a ten dollar 2002 bill Clinton coin worth?

No legal tender coin in the USA is allowed to have the image of a living person on it. Clinton's face could be added after the coin enters circulation, but it was not added by the US Mint. This "coin" you have may not be a coin, but a medal, or a coin from another country. Without more details it's hard to determine, but chances are it has little to no collector's value for collectors of US coins.

What are Bill Clinton contributions to the world?

Giving the Chinese missile secrets. Like the ICBM.

I completely disagree with whoever made that outrageous assertion! There is no evidence whatsoever that President Clinton ever approved of giving the Chinese missile secrets! Unfortunately, there are still many Americans that refuse to give any credit to Clinton for all the wonderful things he achieved while in office and since! He ended a recession he inherited from George H.W. Bush in 1993, by raising taxes on the wealthy. That ushered in 6 years of incredible growth in the economy, including record surpluses and an end to deficit spending! In fact, when George W. Bush became President in 2001, he inherited a $137 Billion surplus which he promptly squandered on huge tax cuts to the wealth in 2001 & 2003, without paying for them!

Bill Clinton also dramatically decreased millions of people on welfare and back to work! He also reduced the size of the Federal Government for the first time in decades! He invested billion of dollars on expanding technology in the classrooms, including the internet and computers in the classrooms! He led the international fight in Bosnia and ended the war and atrocities committed by the Serbs! Unlike George Bush, who was despised by most of our allies, due to the unpopular Iraqi War, Bill Clinton enjoyed widespread popularity, especially in Europe and Africa!

Bill Clinton proved beyond a doubt, that Democrats are much better stewards of American taxpayer dollars than the GOP-He gave us record surpluses and we were on track to finally eradicate the national debt had he stayed in office, which of course, he couldn't! Since he left office, he founded the Bill Clinton Foundation, and has successfully raised billions to help millions of people around the world, including Aids and malaria relief! He led efforts to help those affected from the Asian tsunami and the earthquake in Haiti! What a wonderful humanitarian Bill Clinton has been in public life!!!

On December 21, 2000, President Clinton signed into law the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000 which abrogated the Banking Act of 1933 (also known as the Glass-Steagall Act) and thereby laid the legal foundation for the financial debacle from which the US and the world is now struggling to recover.

How was the economy when Bill Clinton served as President?

During Bill Clinton's terms in office, the economy was fine. There were no major events occurring that directly involved the US and so President W Clinton was permitted the rare opportunity to get the nation 'in order.' Some writers (not historians, yet...it's still too early) have written that Clinton's terms were relatively quiet, which gave him the opportunity to consolidate previous president's economic initiatives and build a surplus in the US Government's budget.

Did the Clintons take furniture from the White House?

No. Stealing is legal term and there has been no such charge made by any authority. The Clinton's took items given to them while they were in the White House, and what they took was agreed to by the White House managers. There are questions as to what was donated to them, and what was donated to the White House. It is important to note that items the Clinton took that were donated while they were in the White House may not fit the decor of the White House and be headed for a storage facility anyway. There have been claims that they took stuff that didn't belong to them from the White House, but the status of each item has to be cleared up to determine if they did. Before you donate anything to the White House, try to find out out of the current and likely future occupants want it. Items lacking a historical connection to the White House will almost certainly go into the trash , storage, or be loaned to members of Congress. Because donors may want something of theirs to become part of the White House does not mean that historians agree that it should be, or that there is room for it or money to maintain it. According to an article from February 2001 in the NY Times (see link below), they vowed to return any White House property they found mixed in with their own. It seems likely that the cost of determining the ownership and disposition of all the items in in question, will significantly exceed the value of the items.

"In the latest criticism over their departure from the White House, the Clinton's faced questions today about taking $28,000 worth of furnishings, which two donors were quoted as saying had been intended to become part of the permanent White House collection, not gifts to the Clinton's.

The disclosure, reported in today's Washington Post, came three days after the Clinton's said they would pay $86,000 to cover the value of gifts they received last year in an effort to avoid the appearance of impropriety. The couple had originally sought to leave with $190,000 in gifts."
