What was the first televised 147 break?

The first televised 147 break in snooker took place on January 11, 1982, achieved by Steve Davis against John Spencer at the Lada Classic. His prize was a Lada Riva - a car which Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson described thus:

"It is obviously essential to make sure that nobody can see who is driving the Lada. A cardboard box is therefore a vital accessory."

Can you deliberately scratch on the eight ball if no other shot is avalibal?

Yes, you can intentionally foul if you wish. Your opponent would get ball in hand, meaning they can place the cue ball anywhere on the playing surface for their next shot, but sometimes this is the most strategic play. The only caveat would be if you pocket the 8 ball and scratch on the same shot, in which case you would lose the game.

Unfortunately, there is no cheats except changing how many points you have, and that is not any fun :D, hope i helped, u could subscribe to me on youtube 'shajeeb4' since i was so much help lol :D

Why is the 8 ball so special?

It is the black ball in the game of pool that has the number 8 on it. In many games you have to sink it last in order to win.

There is also a toy called a "Magic" 8-ball that has a die in it that you can shake to pretend-predict the future.

What size pool has 250 gallons?

* 62,500 gallons (US) = 8,355 cubic feet

If the pool is 20 feet wide, and 70 feet long, it could be 5 feet 11 and a half inches deep all around.

* 62,500 gallons (Imperial) = 10,034 cubic feet.

If the pool is still just under 6 feet deep and 20 feet wide, it could be 84 feet long.

What is the correct racking order for billiards?

Depending upon the game, the rack method is different, and the rules being played can also change the required rack. For 8 ball, the 8 ball goes in the, and under APA rues, no other balls matter, but under BCA Rules, the back corners must be 1 solid and 1 stripe.

What are the odds of making the 8 ball on the break?

In many common lounges or bars, if the 8 ball is potted on the break then you win the game. In actual proper rules, the break is considered a fluke shot, and , as such, one cannot win or lose the game on the break.

Under proper rules, two choices are given to the player; spot the 8 and shoot from where the balls lie, or re-rack and re-break.

Keep in mind that if the original player fouled, the incoming player can elect to re-spot the 8, and continue as usual(cueball in hand behind headstring), or re-rack and break himself.

Also of note:On the break, an 8 ball launched off the table is not a loss of game.

How do you recover a pool table?

One inch thick should not be too heavy for two people, please be careful with the weight.

You will need:

Needle nose pliers for taking out staple from the cloth.

Socket wrench for the bolts.

Screwdrivers

Hammer possibly

Razor blades (flat)

Dust mask

Garbage bags

Wrench

Allen Wrench for the pocket

These are generic and what I can remember when I was taking apart 10 foot snooker tables and 9 foot pool tables from Brunswick.

Take out the pockets first

then

You will need to start with the rails. Take them off by removing the bolts from underneath the table. They should be spaced out between the pockets

Remove the cloth by pulling out the staples.

When the cloth is off you will need to break the seams that hold the slate pieces together. use the razor blade to clear whatever was used to keep it together. The slate should be held down by bolts. You will need to remove them to take the slate apart.

Good Luck..

You may need modified instructions depending on your table.

What are the dimensions of a billiards rack?

The dimensions are slightly different for pool ball racks based on manufacturer, material, and type of pool ball rack. The inside dimensions are between 11 1/2 to 11 3/4 inches on each side. The major exception to this is the SARDO Tight Rack - this rack which provides for exact ball placement with a tight rack not relying on the player, is larger than any other rack because it forces the balls together tightly.

Why is the game pool called pool?

Pocket billiards is very often called pool. The reason is simple...back in the day, circa turn of the century, rooms for betting on the horses were extremely prevalent.

The horse betting pools were such that these rooms were called pool rooms for short. Because pocket billiards became so popular with men of the day, pocket billiards tables were installed in most of these "horse betting pool" rooms.

Rapidly.."pool room" became known as a room with pocket billiard tables in it, and the pocket billiard game itself took on the misnomer.."pool".

How many balls are used in an average 9 inning game?

Every game starts out with 72 baseballs. The average life of a baseball, is 6 putches, so if you take the average pitches thrown in a game 250 - 300, you get about 40 or 50 balls used in a game. A side note, every ball that will be used in a game has mud from Mississippi worked into the ball. This is why they are never bright white.

Who is the best male slow pitch softball player of all time?

There's a guy by the name of Hank Williams, from the little town of Triton Newfoundland, which is an island just off of Canada. He was rank 1st in Canada at one point, and even went on to be named the athlete of the year in the Triton/Britron area, a feat that has not yet been repeated. Local lore states that the man hit three home runs, at three up at bats, to put his team ahead by one in the final three innings of the game.

I would have to disagree and say Jeff Hall is the best slow pitch softball player of all time.

Rick " The Crusher" Scherr played in 20 Men's Major World Series. He is in the ASA and USSSA Hall of Fame. Hit .700 in his career, and was the all-time home run leader when he retired. Ditto for Big Bruce Meade. He had the longest home run ever, pre-juiced bats, at over 500 feet. Rick Weiterman is in 4 softball hall of fames. Played for The Milwaukee Schlitz in the old pro league, Steele's Sports " Men of Steele ", and Ritches Superior in the Men's Majors. Career batting average in competition was just over .750. All these guys played at the highest levels of the sport for more than 25 years. Some of them are still playing today in their 50's. Jeff Hall is great, and if he stays around for a while he will be in the conversation. Oh yeah, Weiterman was one of the games greatest pitchers.

What are the rules for nine ball pool?

First Answer:
There are no special rules. If 9 pins drop it is considered a strike.

Second Answer:
When you throw your first ball and 9 pins fall, it will be automatically considered a strike.

Third Answer:

In No-Tap bowling, the bowler is given a strike for knocking down 9 pins on the first ball and does not bowl a second spare ball. This tends to even out the playing field somewhat between middle average and high average bowlers, also speeds up the game.

Fourth Answer:
No-tap is a type of game where a player gets credited with a strike if they knock down 9 pins on the first ball. The term 'tap' in bowling means the bowler threw a good ball on the first ball but left one pin standing. It doesn't make any difference, in no-tap, whether the first ball was a good one or not. As long as at least nine pins are knocked down, the bowler is credited with a strike.

Fifth Answer:

Ninepin No-Tap is a variation of tenpin bowling. The general rules are the same as they are for tenpin bowling. If a bowler knocks down nine pins on their first shot, it is scored as a strike. The pins are then reset and you move on to the next bowler/next frame. The bowler does not have to shoot a second shot. Knocking down all ten pins still counts as a strike also.

What tennis racquet tension make you hit a ball harder?

Every tennis racquet is marked by the manufacturer with the recommended range of tensions. For example most medium sized racquets can be strung from 22Kg up to 28Kg. For maximum control the higher tensions are best. For maximum power the lower tensions are best. For a good mixture of both control and power the tension should be midway - that is 25Kg in the above example. The thickness or gauge of the string will also effect the power. A racquet tension of 25Kgs with a thin (1.20) string will produce more power than a tension of 25Kgs with a thick (1.35) string. If your average shot is falling nearer the service line than the baseline then either lower the tension 1 or 2 Kgs or use a slightly thinner string to get more shot distance. However, be warned, a thinner string is not as durable as a thicker string so it may need replacing more often. If your average shot is going off the end of the court then either increase the tension on your racquet by 1 or 2 Kgs or use a thicker string (or both) to reduce the shot distance. Developing more topspin on your shots will also bring the ball down earlier - so there are many more factors than just racquet tension and string size to consider. An oversize racquet (i.e. the head is larger) will also produce more power since the central sweet spot is larger and also the strings produce more of a trampoline effect. A heavier racquet will also produce more power but you may lose a degree of control due to the difficulty of manoeuvring the extra weight. As a generalisation a keen amateur would probably play best with a medium size racquet, a string tension of around 25Kgs, a string size of around 1.25mm, a racquet weight of around 300gm and a desire to hit topspin whenever possible. However the question "What tennis racquet tension makes you hit a ball harder?" may not be as important as "Which tennis racquet set-up will help me hit more accurately?" The last thing to mention is that the size of the grip on a tennis racquet (between 4" to 5") is crucial to hitting accurately and powerfully. Always buy a racquet with a grip that your hand can go nearly all the way round (4 1/8" or 4 1/2" for most adults). A grip that is too big will produce poor tennis and cannot be reduced. Whereas a grip that is comfortable will produce better tennis and the grip size can always be increased later if necessary.

Can you hit the 8 ball first?

No. In 8 Ball, a player is not allowed to hit an opponent's ball with the cue ball first, however the player may hit his ball first, THEN into an opponent's ball, to sink the 8 ball, so long as the player calls that combination.

What does cue?

A thing said or done that serves as a signal to an actor or other performer to enter or to begin their speech or performance.

What is the record for most balls made on a break in 8 ball?

I once played against a pool pro, in 1 break off he potted 5 balls.

I got 7 like a week ago on DECEMBER 2nd 2009

..............................................

I once shot in eight balls on the break. It's funny because I was leading 4 to 3 in a race to 5 during a quarter final match when I sank the eight on the break, and in my excitement of pumping my fist and sighing relief, I failed to notice what the referee quickly spotted. He summoned all players to our table and asked everyone to "...count the balls left on the table." There were seven. One other time in my experience (and I've been playing for 30 years) I've made five. I've seen someone else make six once. I've never seen seven. In a tournament billed as the "Tournament of Champions" where all entrants were previous winners of local eight-ball tournaments, we were playing at The Crow's Nest in Wisner, Louisiana in the fall of 1993. We were playing on 8 ft. Valleys and I was shooting with a Benson cue. The referee was Wayne Stevens. I still marvel at how all breaks are as unique as snowflakes. And how every once in a harvest moon a snowflake will appear as big Mizerak himself. Matthew Friestman
