I can't tell if this is a dumb question or if you worded it wrong. Anyway, generally they need 12 hours of sleep a day. Some of this they do during the day (like when no one is home) and at night. Make sure you parakeet is getting enough sleep at night.

Are scented candles harmful to parakeets?
Yes, they are, and any bird in general. Birds have very delicate lungs, meaning they're easily susceptible to fumes. I suggest you don't light a candle at all near your little friend.

No, and anyways it wouldn't be logic. The grass would die in about six hours anyways.
What do you do if your parakeet has a swelled beak?
Never heard of a "swelled" beak.
The beak sometimes grows too long in sick or older birds, and may need trimming by someone with experience (novices can cause much pain and bleeding, which could kill). Also burrowing mites will eventually render the beak misshapen, which could make it look swollen and often grotesque. This can be treated with ivermectin, a powerful drug that should be administered with great care according to directions, preferably by a vet.
Is there something wrong if your parakeet has hot feet?
Not usually and, if that's the only symptom, I wouldn't worry. Birds run at a higher body temp than humans, and if they get too warm, they cool off by radiating through their feet.

Your bird could be suffering any number of ailments, from a cage mate who is plucking it, to French moult. If you have ruled out that another bird is plucking the feathers, take it to an avian veterinarian to help uncover the cause.

If you have any of these or other strong urges you need to make an appt. with your Dr. and be open and honest with them about your experiences. Get them to test for the deficiencies and anemia, and if you have them they will treat you for them. But don't leave it at that, ask them to look deeper and explore the root causes of the symptoms. This link doesn't mean that everyone with these strong urges has cancer, but your Dr. needs to investigate the reason for this set of symptoms.

There are no candles that are safe for a bird to breathe if it is lit and burning. If the candle is unlit then is is ok. So if you are going to have candles going it would be best for your bird if it was kept in a different room. Or if it is neer the candles make it out in an open, ventilated area.
