Are conifers poisonous to birds?
Some types are. Yews, for example, are very toxic. Even a small bite can be fatal. Other types have toxic effects, too, but what happens depends on the size of the bird and how much is eaten. Many pines can produce digestive upset in small amounts. The amount that might make a Cockatiel sick could kill a finch or canary. If you know the specific species of conifer, I can give you more detailed information. The following site has more information on toxic plants:
What makes a canary lose its balance?
I have had my canary for about 4 months and it has lost its balance. It falls into its food dish and off stoops. This started happening after I changed the birds cage. I got a new cage but it was alittle rusty so I spray painted it, after the paint dried I put the bird in it. I think even though the paint was dry the bird was effected by the fumes and developed this problem. It has only been a week since I changed the cage back and the bird shows little improvement but hopefully it is a temporary condition. You have to remember that cole miners took canaries into the mines and if the bird died it meant the air wasn't good. I would check for anything that might be an air pollutant for little polly.

There are small brown flat bugs on my dove what are they?
Tehy are probably ticks. You should go see a vet before you apply any medication. This is important that you see one ASAP b/c ticks and fleas suck the blood out of things and it is dangerous for a small bird.
